Hello,
I have an issue with my Billing for my UVerse account, Just got done with my 12 month contract agreement and called back to CS to see if they would offer me a promotional deal, to lock in a great rate for another 12-24 months and was told " we only work with New Customers for deals and promos".
This was not the answer I was looking for so, I went to my plan b and shopped around and got a good offer from Comcast and DirecTV for a similar deal I have the U450 and the Max Internet and Phone Line for now the price of $212.00 a month.
My promotions were locked in for the whole year and brought my bill down to around $125.00 and I was looking to secure another deal similar to the one I had when I signed up.
Is there anyone on these forums that works for the ATT Uverse Retention department that can reach out to me and see what can be worked out to stay with ATT... keep in mind I really do love the service ATT provides and would hate to take my money elsewhere if a deal can not be done.

Hi Let me know how you make out. I am looking around myself, I love ATT but it getting to where I can not afford it and they seem not to care if they lose just as many customers as they sign up. Pretty sad.

I've found that AT&T''s (and other providers) land-based phone services are quite expensive. If you shop around, you may be able to find a different company with similar services for much less. My phone provider is something like $20 (at most) per month, with a seperate long-distance service just pennies per month, WHEN I use it...of course, I just use my cell phone for long distance. ![]()
Unless you absolutely, 100%, without-a-doubt, NEED U-Verse phone, look into lower-priced options.
With the U-450, do you absolutely NEED it? I have the U-200 and it works fine. Every once in a while, they'll give me three months of HBO and Cinemax for free, or they'll give me one month of the Movie Pack for free. I'll go crazy recording movies that I can watch when I don't have any movie channels.
I have no use for the additional (non-premium) channels in the U-300, nor do I have any use for the Sports Pack. In the rare occasion (about 1-2 times per year) that I do need the Sports Pack, AT&T gives it to me for free for one month. All I do is ask, and they give me a "first month free" promo. ![]()
Same thing with internet. Do you really need 18.0 Mbps download? Could the 12.0Mbps do the trick? There really isn't much difference between the two. As a matter of fact, I was watching Netflix fine with 6.0 Mbps. I am currently in a $10 off promo for 12.0 Mbps, taking it to a little bit less than the 6.0 Mbps cost. When this promotion ends, I'll probably go back to the 6.0 Mbps.
I do have a year free of HD service. The $10 HD access fee is included with the U-450. However, I've very rarely paid the $10 fee, since AT&T is good about giving it to me on a promotional basis.
I get the U-200, HD, 12.0Mbps internet, and one additional box. I am getting $30 off my bill. The weird thing is that I am not paying for the additional box, but there doesn't appear to be any promotions listed. It's just not showing up on the bill. I pay just a touch over $100 per month.
In other words, look at downsizing your TV package, slowing down your internet, and dropping your phone service for a traditional phone company.

Getting a decent price for service is a constant battle. It's almost a part time job with AT&T! Every time my bill gets out of control I call to see what's going on and it's the same story. Fees have gone up and your discounts are no longer valid. Threaten to leave and get new discounts but 6 months later - they are up again!!! Instead of all the gimmicks just give me a decent rate for once and don't make me work so hard to keep it. I mainly watch local TV but like the ability to record my shows. So I have to have at least U200 to get the DVR - boom! $72!!! Since that is so expensive I only get internet PRO - $38!! So for very basic tv and internet and the ability to record and the extra receivers my bill is almost $139 for May. (of course with all of the taxes and fees) That is just ridiculous! In Feb I paid $97.50 ...and every month it's gone up.
Of course then I have my cell phone bill with AT&T....no discount available for that when I signed up...
I don't want to work so hard to keep AT&T - they should be working hard to keep me!!!

AT&T's prices do go up every February, usually about $5-$10, depending on your services you subscribe to. Every services' prices go up. The channels DO demand to be paid more. The downside is that those costs are passed on to the consumer.
Unfortuantely, most times, they do not tell you when your promotions expire. I have to log in to the U-Verse website to see when they expire. I found that programming the dates into my phone's calendar is a great help. I'll put something like "U-Verse $10 internet discount expires" on that date and I'm good to go.
It is up to the consumer to keep on top of their expiring promotions. Trust me when I say it can be quite a shock!
The yearly bill increases shouldn't cause your discounts to be removed. If you're getting a $10 discount off something that costs $72, and the rates go up to $75, you'll now be paying $65... $10 discount still good, but off the NEW price
Unfortunately, if they gave EVERYONE the promotional rates, ....they just can't. It's like going out to eat with a coupon. If they gave everyone a "buy one appetizer, get one free" coupon, the restaurant wouldn't stay in business too long. A customer at a restaurant needs to hunt that coupon out.

I found it helpful to wait at least one moth between offers. Usally when a deal expires I give it two months and I get a new deal. You also never get the same deal twice in a row. For instance, you can't get 1/2 off consecutively, but you will get, 1/2 off for six months, ten dollars off for six month, then back to 1/2 off for six months.

When I left direct TV for Uverse they were relentless in trying to get me to stay or come back but when I sent them communications they ignored me so when I changed I told them they had lost there window to retain me as a customer.
I have the u450 with phone and internet and its just getting too pricey. I really don't want to have to play games with customer service so I will probably move on to comcast who is offering a lot to switch and then move back in a few years. I don't have any problems with the service other than thinking I should be able to get a larger DVR with more capacity. I wish AT&T would recognize this and offer something.
