Can't Switch to ATT U-Verse bundle Package FOR 1 YEAR after canceling DIRECTV Service?!? !?

I cancelled DirecTV a few weeks ago and have not had TV since then as I'm tiring to come up with a workaround for this issue.
DirecTV was in my MAIDEN NAME, Registered under the phone number I had 9 years ago and billed to a PO BOX.
BUT the DIRECTV listed SERVICE ADDRESS is my current home address.
ATT says their computer is hitting on the HOME ADDRESS (Service address, not billing address) and will not let me get U-VERSE bundle (phone, internet and DVR TV) because DIRECTV has a block on my address for ONE YEAR because they don't want current customers jumping ship for ATT's LOW PRICE INTRODUCTORY OFFER.
SO I'm SCREWED!
I want my NFL package and thought a few weeks cushion between canceling DiectTV and going with ATT U-verse would
be fine, but it's not. The HOME ADDRESS, (service address) is precluded from being hooked up by ATT for ONE YEAR.
The only work-around would be to put the home phone, Internet and Uverse in my husbands name (we have different last names)
and make it look like he's a new tenant. But, ATT said my Internet will be down for 6 business days while they make the switch, and I work from home, so that is not an option.
How are you former DirecTV customers getting ATT U-verse? I'm desperate, 3 weeks without TV is too long and going with the cable company is not an option because we won't have the NFL Sunday Ticket in Sept., just a few months away.
I can never go back with DirecTV I told them where to stick it and copied the CEO the email, sent back all the equipment and paid off the bill, they told me that there would be no early termaintion charge and there was not one on my bill. I have a ZERO balance. HELP! ![]()

Plenty of people on these and other boards have made the switch from Direct/Dish/Cable and I can't think of an incident with a 'block' on an address.
There's something fishy in Denmark.

Lady Jessica, I think you area victim of a "moron rep," or a DirecTV/AT&T Billing Rep, trying to talk you outta of it. I know, I know, the "moron rep," is hard to believe... but the 1 Year Clause is a policy that is to prevent standalone DirecTV customers trying to enroll in the same DirecTV Service, at a cheaper price, with AT&T, as a bundle. If you are an existing DirecTV Standalone customer, you are not able to order DirecTV Service thru a reseller, AT&T, unless if you DirecTV account has been disconnected for a 12 month period.
That being said, you can go from DirecTV, bundled or standalone, to AT&T U-Verse at any time, however if you are in a contract with DirecTV, bundled with AT&T or standalone with DirecTV, you would be subject to an Early Termination Fee that applies to your current term.

Thanks all for the advice, keep it coming.
I called 3 separate times and spoke to ATT reps and managers and all are telling me the same thing.
Now my account is NOTED, so they are done talking to me. I spoke to a man today who tried to sign me
up and he read me his screen which said "Customer must be directed to DirecTV to reinstate service" as
ATT bundles all the ATT products and I'm billed separately from DirecTV and their agreement is that they
can't sign up a DirecTV customer within a year. I'm going to call back, get a manager or the corp. office
on the phone and quote some of the above comments and find out why I'm being singled out.

Just filed a complaint with the FCC (30 days to get reply), but they only investigate the PHONE portion of my compliant which is useless.
Calling ATT Corp. Office now, but they are closed on east coast. GRRRRRR
!!!!!

I don't know what he would be able to do about this. But why don't you contact David about this issue? There may be something he or a member on his staff can do to help you. Just a thought.

Do you realize that Uverse doesn't have NFL Sunday ticket? It is a DirecTV exclusive, so if you must have NFL Sunday Ticket, you must have DirecTV.

Lady Jessica, I am curious, did you try to place an order at the AT&T Website, it doesn't read notes, atleast I don't think it does. Then after you schedule you appointment, and have the install completed, call DirecTV to turn off service, just tell them you went to ComCrap or Cocks Communications or something, cause it is none of their business. I think there's a bit of confusion here. I just cancelled Direct TV and moved to Uverse. You cannot cancel your Direct TV service and then get AT&T's Direct TV service for 1 year. If you want a discount, you can get like $5/month from Direct TV with a 2 year renewal.
BUT you should have no problem getting Uverse - it is a totally different service and has nothing to do with Direct TV. The two services are completely different, so make sure you are letting them know which you want.

Also had Directv for very long time (7 years) and think they are the scourge of the earth. Just cringed when AT&T U-verse added them as a service option.

Had no problem in going to U-verse from Directv but waited until UV was installed first before canceling. Saw where one of the posters said that the NFL package is available on Directv, but not U-verse. When you tried to place your order with U-verse did you tell them you wanted the NFL package with your order? If so this could be where the problem is since you would be still be requesting Directv but through a different provider (U-verse). Could see where they may be able to put a block on this.
Evidently your internet is not currently with AT&T or there would not be a 6 day delay/down time for this service.
Please let us know if you requested the NFL package with your AT&T order and good luck.

With all the trouble you are having, I would just have someone else call up and put it in there name,and pretend they are new residents. I have done this with a cable company some years ago, as long as the last name is different, and just act clueless to any questions about service currently on or shut off (pretend that you really do have no clue and are a new customer calling up for service)
If you play dumb to any questions they may ask about your directv acct or AT&T account, they will believe you are a "new" customer and should put the order in.

on the internet it said direct T.V. has exclusived rights to N F L package. can I get the NFL package with the U200 package?

Only Direct TV has the NFL Sunday Ticket. It's a pay service that will $315 for the season. U-Verse has the NFL network, but not the pay package.
Direct TV also has MLB Extra Innings for $213
NBA League Pass - Not sure what the Price is since the season is over
NHL Center Ice - Same with that
MLS Direct Kick for $80
Cricket Ticket for $300
Fox Soccer Plus for $15/Month
That's on top of what you will be paying for their service. It ain't cheap to watch out of market sports on any provider
I root for the local teams so none of those channels even interest me.
