When i initially signed up for service, i was told by the nice lady on the phone that even though i was going into a 2 year contract (1 year of bundle, 1 year of full price) that i could rebundle after the first year. I tried doing this the other day over the phone and it appeared that this wasn't that case. Given that the change in price is to the tune of $70/month, this is something i would like to resolve. Per my site invetigation today, it appears the same package i initially signed up for is still being offered (though now it appears at a lower price).
Am I able to simply re-up on a new bundle and continue with my service? Do i need to cancel my service early, pay the fees, and then sign up for the bundle i want again? Somebody please advise if you've been in this situation or from AT&T.
Thanks!

Well, U-verse has no 2 year contracts. Certain promotions do have a 12 month commitment.

Must have been a 12 month commitment then. Is there any limitation now that those 12 months are up on resubscribing to a new bundle?

Well, the promotional pricing is for new customers as opposed to existing customers. I don't know if any existing customer has been successful at signing up for one the new customer promotions after their existing promotion has expired.

I was also told by the sales rep that the rate would reset after 12 months but I could get on another promo... I never believed that as true. I've yet to find any tv/web provider that will extend a promo rate to an existing customer, unless you get to the retention department and they really want to keep you.

I had a 6 month promotional rate, but it took them until a year after i signed up to raise my rates. I called them and told them that if they did not lower my rate, I would cancel and go elsewhere. They gave me a promotional rate that got me back down to my orignal rate. It was not a lot of money, just the principle.

I've been a U-Verse customer for almost 4 years. I called on Monday and said I was going to cancel and go back to Comcast because U-Verse rates were much higher and Comcast was offering me a great deal (they were). I got U-Verse to come down significantly and I'm staying. Call, say "Cancel" to the voice prompts and you should get connected quickly to the retention group. Be polite and tell them the rates are too high and you're thinking about canceling. Chances are they'll work with you. You might not get brand new customer rates but you should get better rates than the standard retail ones.
