I recently had Uverse installed (about a month ago) and am attempting to register it online. I have the account number in my email that I used for the purchase but it will not let me register the account online. Attempting to create a new access ID does not work, it tells me that I must register my uverse service first but then takes me to a page that says I need a US based IP address when I attempt to register it(I live in Atlanta, GA).

I'm not sure what you mean by "register". Your U-verse account would have been registered at the time the service was installed.
Are you trying to log into your U-verse account online? If so, you need to log in with your U-verse log in information (i.e email address and password).

I currently do not have an account. When I create one it asks for what type of account (wireless, uverse, etc). I select uverse and enter my account number. After hitting Next it gives me this: "Before linking your account, please register your new U-verse service." Which takes me to a page that says I need a US IP address.

I don't understand. Your account is created when you order service. What website are you visiting? Also, which U-verse services do you have? Are you services working?

I have Uverse TV and I am using att.com. I have somewhat figured it out. It had somehow assigned me an @att.net email account with a bunch of random letters and numbers (firstname.lastname@example.org), nothing I had ever created. I just told it I forgot my account name and entered my email so it can be sent to it. Then I had to reset the password because I had never set a password to begin with.
However it still will not let me link it to an access id. Still saying that I need to register my uverse service first and it says the member id that I have is not recognized.
At least I was finally able to pay my bill.

The description on the left side of the screen specifies your acct ID. Try using that to reset pour password or register for the first time.

Send Alex a PM he is an ATT Community Manager on the forum. He can get you to someone who will help you get your account registered. That is if you have not had success with the previous suggestions.

I have exactly the same problem. I switched from DSL to Uverse internet and voice which was installed on May 21, 2012. I have logged into ATT.Com numerous times hoping to get some Uverse account information but all I get is information on my previous service. I have called the ATT 1-800-ATT-2020 and after being on hold 30 minutes I asked the so called "knowledgeable" representative to get a paper bill but he transferred me to another and after being on hold another 15 minutes, that representative could not help me with a paper bill but said she could help me get the information online. She could not do that either and just said I should call back another time. What a run-around.

The login screen handles all three possibilities. Make sure you use the U-vrse path.
