Switched to U-verse 2 weeks ago and we have had more problems in 2 weeks than we had in 20 years with Brighthouse. The topper is when we agreed to switch we were promised a monthly bill of around $185 for 12 months. The first bill came today and it is for $330. Cant wait for their offices to open tomorrow so I can hear the story

Your first bill will always be higher. The first bill covers a full billing period plus a prorated billing period beginning from the date of your install. The first bill may also include one time fees such as an activation fee, installation fee and additional installation charges. Subsequent bills will only cover one billing period.
The U-verse bill is very detailed and includes line items that show exactly what you are being billed. You should be able to review your bill and determine the correctness of the charges.

We were told there would be no activation or installation charges. There are at least $170 in those charges on the bill. If theyt try to stick us with this stuff we will cancel before the weekend

Are you sure that those charges are not for the prorated billing period?

Spent a half hour fighting on the phone. There was a $36 activation fee which they agreed to waive and a $49 wireless receiver fee which they said they wouldnt waive. I said we have 4 boxes and they are all hooked up by cords so why would I want a wireless receiver? They verified by serial number that the receiver on our biggest tv was a wireless one and again I said why would I want or need a wireless receiver on the biggest tv in the house that is connectedby a cord. We went round and round and the person on phone finally claimed she contacted the initial salesperson, which I dont believe for a minute, and the salesperson said they would waive the $49 wireless fee. Took me a half hour of fghting to get $85 knocked off the bill that never should have been there in the first place. Please Brighthouse add better DVRs so I can drop Uverse ASAP. I cant deal with this crap every other day

Just got MY first bill as well. I signed up for about 118/mo worth of service, and my first bill is 217. I can't WAIT to give them you know what on teh phone about that. I also was supposed to recieve free installation, and supposedly a discount of $28/month for my first year, NEITHER of which is reflected in my bill, ANYWHERE.
