I signed up for new U-verse services on 8/12/2011, after being solicited via telephone by representative James {Personal content removed for safety}. The solicitation for service was made after clearing up a problem with my ATT wireless service.
Representative explained that a promotion was in place that if I signed up for service on that day I would receive a Visa credit card in the amount of $300. He noted this would be mailed upon installation and I would receive in 2 weeks. I called later to check on the status and was told that no such card was available and that the most ATT provides in promotional Visa cards is about $25. Trying to deal with this situation as this was definitely a selling point to me. Will be contacting the representative's supervisor. Just one more "too good to be true" promotions from ATT.

No rebates occur automatically. You must go to the Reward Center and redeem your rebates.

I got U-Verse tv and internet on 6/30. A month later, I went on line and put in a request for my rebate cards. They arrived about two weeks ago and I have already spent them. The total was $150. All you have to do is follow the simple instructions to get your rebates, and it's not a scam.

On July 7th 2011 I upgraded my package from U200 to U300 for 2 reasons. 1) My son wanted Stars to watch Torchwood(He is paying for the monthly price diff.) 2) Promotional offer of $50.00 gift card for Upgrade. The card didn't show up I call At&t billing and talk to CSR. I read off my order upgrade paperwork - needed for the Starz and Showtime gift cards. Come to find out for some reason I had a $20.00 gift card for upgrading my speed package! She correct the problem and now reward center shows both being process. Funny thing is the speed upgrade was $5.00 off for 6 months, which I am getting. CSR are very helpful. Just my 2 cents.

I, too, was promised a Visa Gift Card and never received it. I've made several attempts to look into it and have only been blown off, transferred, etc. I sent a PM to Alex in hopes that AT&T will make good on this promise.
I recall it was $200 (could have been $250) and I can't recall the time frame I was given for delivery of the card, but luckily that conversation was recorded. So far I have been shocked but the pushback I have received from AT&T on this issue. I've heard of scams like this from small-time companies but naively did not think AT&T would solicit new business in this manner.

Did you bother reading the entire thread? How long ago did you sign up? If it was recently you should be able to go to the Reward Center and redeem your rewards. They are not shipped out automatically. Just like any other rebate, you have to do a little work to get it.

Yes I did bother reading the entire thread (why the harsh tone?). I did, in fact, contact the rewards center and was told they could not/would not help me--they referred me to customer service who ultimately said they would call me back with a solution and never did.
Futhermore, when I signed up, I was told that the card would be sent to us. Perhaps the representative told me that in error, but that is what I was told. It was not referred to as a rebate, as you refer to it, and there was nothing to "redeem"; it was referred to as an actual Visa gift card that would be sent in the mail.

Regarding the reward--you should receive a letter/note via snail mail that tells you to CLAIM your reward here: https://rewardcenter.att.com/
Did you try checking that site, or did phone support try sending you there?
Give Alex a chance to look at your account; he doesn't work weekends, so it will be Monday. ![]()

I received my rebate card on June 5 and didn't activate it until last week. I waited so I could use the card for small purchases on food and other necessities. I made one purchase of roughly $18 and the next day the card wouldn't go through. I tried a few other places and waited until I got home to read the instructions assuming I was using the card incorrectly. It said to run it as credit so I tried at another store with no success. I finally looked online to see that a purchase of $77 was made to the card the day after my original successful purchase and used up the remaining balance on the card. I called ATT the following day and the person I spoke to said it was no problem and that she'd return that amount to the card by the next day (29th) at midnight. That never happened and I just got off the phone with ATT claiming they can't return the money and accusing me of lying. I asked if I could cancel my U-verse and she simply said NO. I've been an ATT wireless customer since 2002 and with everything that I've had to put up with, I'm ready to leave the company entirely.

If you did not make the purchase you wouldn't call AT&T, you'd call customer service for the card that was sent using the number on the back and dispute the charge. Once the card is shipped AT&T cannot do anything with it.

Sad, but true. AT&T made false promises to me when I signed up for service. I was promised a $36 dollar bundle discount with $100 gift card. I signed up in August and patiently waited for the give card information to come in the mail, but it didn't. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with CS requesting them to honor their verbal agreement with me and I was told that I was on the best promotion they had $36 off for 24 months that more than the $100 gift card, that $864 in discounts. Discount bundles are not a promotion, that's the advantage of having 3 services with AT&T.
I asked them to take me off the 24 month promotion and put me on the 12 month with $36 off and the $100 give card. THEY WOULD NOT BUDGE. What happen to the customer is always right? I can see if I was asking for something that is not true, but I went online while on the phone with them and to look up ATT promotions and there it was in black and white. The best they could do for me for my trouble was giving me a $50 adjustment on my bill.
I guess something is better than nothing, but I think it really stinks that I am keeping up with my end of the deal and ATT is not. Buyer beware. If you are told you will get a gift card or a certain discount, ask them to put it in writing and send it to you via email. After my year is up I am going to listen to my husband and go to Charter. Their internet service is much better.
Very disappointed in ATT

I have been cheated by AT&T big time
I got new services from AT&T by registering ONLINE
My services started and after a month of services I have been told that only $225 in promotional cards were being processed.
I called to inquire and was told that they never committed $525 in cards
To prove my point I faxed to rewards center a copy of the Order.
NOw AT&T is in a fix they know that I have proof but nobody in customer service or reward center is willing to help me. They keep asking me to call each other but noone helps
At one time a manager spoke to me who asked me to fax the order, but she is from customer service and apparently the reward center is another department. And they keep sending me back and forth. BEWARE OF AT&T
I am very frustrated and cancelling my service.
AT&T is not a credible company. They lie.

Since this is account specific I would recommend that you send a private message to the escalation team at ATT Customer Care and someone will get in touch with you. Their normal business hours are from 7am to 10pm Central Time. It may take up to 48 hours for them to respond and please take into account weekends when contacting them.
Customer care is not the same as customer service. They are a dedicated escalation team that gets issues resolved when other means have failed.

I purchased my U-Verse service and M-Cell from my local AT&T store in Asheville, NC (Diane). I was told I would receive $100 off a future bill as well as a $100 rewards/rebate card. It's been months and I have yet to receive any letters or other mailing in reference to either. Scam? Unknowledgeable AT&T employee? MAD CUSTOMER? You bet! I have been screwed by AT&T in the past and this is yet another example. If you live in Western NC, go with Verizon. AT&T is a huge black hole up here!
