I just started using U-Verse and was waiting for my first U-Verse bill. Today I received a letter that said my account is overdue. I never got my notification e-mail that said my bill was due.
A month ago, I set up the account for paperless billing through a normal AT&T customer rep. Today, I went online to my account and looked where the notification should be, and nothing is there. I selected "edit" and it went to the next screen. The "Active" selection was already set, but I had to select "E-Mail" in the drop down box to make it show up. I hit the "Save" button and got the e-mail that said I changed something in my account. However, when I went back and looked at my account screen, it still didn't show anything under notification. So, I doubt if anything changed.
I called customer support and asked what happens if I still don't get an e-mail. He didn't have an answer.
If (when) it happens on the next bill, what do I do? Is there a way around the phone rep (some online solution)?

Try the following:
1. Log into your account online with your U-verse log-in informationa (email address and password)
2. Click on Profile from the top menu
Under the section Billing Contact Information is the Billing Email Address field populated?
By the way, the section of your message that I highlighted above does not control if you will receive email notification when your bill is ready. If you are set up for paperless billing, it should happen automatically as long as the Billing Email Address is provided. If you are not receiving the emails, check your Spam folder either online or in your email client.

texasguy37,
Thanks for the quick reply.
1. I logged in.
2. I clicked Profile.
3. My Billing Email Address is set correctly.
4. My e-mail account is with Yahoo (it's not the att.net account that came with U-Verse). My yahoo spam filter simply puts e-mail in my "Spam Folder", so I still see it before I delete the contents of the folder. I'm 100% sure that I didn't get an e-mail. I've been getting my other e-mail bills for years.
I opened this U-Verse account on 05/18/2012. Is there a way to estimate when the next bill will be coming out? Does the e-mail go out when the bill shows up in my U-Verse account?

Your billing period is be shown on your U-verse bill. The bill will appear online within a few days after the end of the billing period. When the bill is available to be viewed online, the email notification occurs.
By the way, did you check your att.net email account to see if the bill was sent to that email account?

I checked the bill and the billing period was 05/18/2012 to 05/25/2012. Since today is 06/27/2012, my next bill should be coming out soon. I'll check every day until it shows up in my account. If I still don't get an e-mail, I'll update this thread.
Yes, I checked my att.net account. The only thing in that account is a "Free for a Year sweepstakes......." AT&T promotional e-mail.

You can log into your att.net email account online and have email automatically forwarded to the email account that you use on a regular basis.

I checked my ATT account and found my bill for 06/25/2012. Just like last month, I didn't get an AT&T e-mail notifying me of the bill. As stated in my previous posts, my "Billing E-mail Address" is set correctly. I also checked my att.net e-mail account, and nothing is there.
The only things that have changed since my previous posts are my "Pay Bill Reminder Notice Setting" now shows "Active", and my "Pay Bill Reminder Notice Delivery" now shows "EMAIL". However, no AT&T e-mail of any kind has shown up in my inbox.
As stated in my previous posts, when I called 800-288-2020 about this last time, I didn't get anywhere. The guy simply read my "Billing E-mail Address" back to me and said everything looks fine, and there was nothing else he could do. Is there another way to get some help? Is there a way I can get this fixed online and skip the phone help stuff?
The only additional information that I can come up with is that I opened this U-verse Internet account about a week before I cancelled my AT&T landline phone. The rep and the 800-288-2020 guy said that that had nothing to do with receiving e-mail. That sounds good, but since this e-mail thing still isn't working, I thought I would throw that out there.
Any help?

Received e-mail notice every month except last month. Saw a notice that att was working on the e-mail notification. Went to my acct admin & turned on the reminder. Got an e-mail to trigger a video of the bill. Do not know if it was a reminder or just a notice of something new.
Waiting to see if a notice comes this month.
A couple years ago I had a credit card bill & and an att bill that usually come the same day go missing.
Bottom line - do not trust billing - You know what the schedule is every month. It is due every month. Put it in your reminder draw to look it up and pay it.

Nothing has happened. So, do I assume that nothing is going to happen?
Since AT&T can't seem to send me an e-mail, how will you send notices other than a bill? If I switch to paper billing, there's no guarantee that that will work either. I'm a little ticked that I was charged a $5 late fee for something that AT&T caused.
How much will it cost to cancel my service?

Simple solution: Since you know when your bill is due each month, setup a monthly reminder to log into your U-verse account online to review and pay your bill.
I receive some monthly paper bills in the mail from other companies. If for whatever reason one of the bills was not received in a given month, I would still know that the bill was due, and I would take the necessary steps to pay the bill in a timely fashion.

texasguy37,
The problem that I have with that is that unless AT&T has a reliable way to get in touch with me, I'll be the one held responsible for whatever happens. It cost me a $5 late fee last month (and a possible hit on my credit rating). What's next? How much will it cost?
This whole thing is ridiculous. It's a waste of my time and yours.
Since I don't see a solution on the horizon, it's up to me to fix it.
Do you know how much it costs to cancel my service? Can you post a link?
