I am pulling hair out trying this and even called customer service was on the phone for an hour and had to hang up because they kept sending me off to someone else who didnt know what to do! So mad I want to cancel my UVERSE.
I need to change my yahoo email address password because someone or a virus keeps sending bad emails to people on my contact list. This is not my member id account, it is just a yahoo account that I had listed for contact. I think I must have merged my yahoo account with att at some point and now when I click on "manage passwords and account" on yahoo it takes me to att main page. I will login and still am clueless how to change it, have tried everything but dont see where I can change it. Im really upset at something this small taking 2.5 hours out of my evening for something that should only take 5 minutes or less!
Please help
Thanks
Shawn

Call cs using the phone number in my sig. Let the csr know what is going on. If they don't help, call back and talk to another one.

There actually is no way of merging anyother email address to your at&t account. If your yahoo address is listed on there that just the one that is your "preferred" email address that they would send info. to. If you try to change your password on yahoo and it brings you to the att.net site the only thing i could think of would be to clear your browsers history/cache/cookies. and make sure your on www.yahoo.com

Having the same issue. Honestly, people... how can you have no way of changing a password? That's completely unacceptable. Is there a way to just un-merge the account or flat out delete it? I stopped using Yahoo mail a long time ago because it sucks.

I was asked at sign up if I wanted to merge other Yahoo accts. with my exisiting ATT one; no thanks. ATT stated clearly that once merged, they cannot be unmerged. So unless something has changed, think it's final.

I had this exact issue and have been working on resolving for several days. I think you guys are going to love me. Between my wife and I we literally spent 8 hours on the phone with ATT, UVERSE and Yahoo (they all told me that I needed to speak to someone else) until i finally got this one CS person at Yahoo who knew what to do.
Here is what you need to do:

Just spent the morning on this, att directed me to yahoo, yahoo to att, vicious circle. An easy tip from a friend. Instead of putting your password in at the login in page, go below to "Can't access....." It will then ask you your security questions and you can change your password from there. Took less than 3 minutes.

Ok..........tried the solutions posted here and still can't change my yahoo password.............apparently it's merged with my att&t uverse account. Using Firefox and Windows 7. Anybody got any ideas? Can't even cancel my yahoo email account since to do so takes you to att&t. Next step is just cancel Uverse.............too many hours on the phone!

After spending hours on the phone with ATT and Yahoo, and neither being able to help but prefering to push responsibility onto each other,[Per Guidelines: Keep it Relevant and Appropriate].

Nothing else worked for me.. So combined a couple of suggestions and I finally got it to work.
Login in to att.yahoo.com/changepassword
choose uverse residential and then when you go to login choose Uverse and use the yahoo account address that you need to change the password on. Then you register the email address and change the password. It worked.
Good Luck

Either of these two links will take care of you. I spent 4 hours finding this link after my Yahoo account had spammed everyone i know for a month. So I feel your pain. I hope this solves it. You can also call ATT and they can do it manually.

The link worked for me. I can't understand why AT&T doesn't have a quick link to do this. For the first time in 20 years on-line I went on-line and discovered that someone had phished my addressbook and spammed everyone in it. AT&T does not make it easy if you to change your password. It seems like a fundamental service to me. It seems they'd rather send you to an FAQ page than actually make the interface user-friendly.

I seem to be experiencing a variation of this. The problem is that I don't have a Uverse account. I've have a regular AT&T account for several years, but only just in the past couple of months does my Yahoo email seem to have been hijacked by AT&T. I have no idea how this happened - I never agreed to a merger of these accounts online or otherwise. I assumed that AT&T had just merged with Yahoo and thus AT&T would administer my email from now on. However, same problem, I can't change my email (which has been hacked) because AT&T doesn't recognize my Yahoo email ID or address. Yet I also don't have a Uverse account number to login with, and thus can't access any of the help features mentioned above. Thus far my search for a relevant contact number has proved fruitless. Any thoughts? Thanks!

lukehejl is correct but let me expound on his solution... I had this problem for months and tried everything everyone else had tried, again, to no avail. Talk about frustrated! Anywho, I'll try to make this short: I signed up for ATT DSL several years ago and my Yahoo! account was even older. When I signed up they gave me an ATT email account as well, JD****@sbcglobal.net. At some point ATT and Yahoo! merged which merged these two accounts.
Wihtin the last few months my email began sending third party emails to my contacts. I tried to change the password and it auto redirects me to ATT account. By now I've already started a new service with ATT called UVERSE which created another ATT email account: ******@att.net. so I did what lukehejl recommended but using my new UVERSE email account ****@att.net and it didn't work. I dug into my Yahoo! account and found that the Yahoo! account had merged long ago with my first ATT email account, ******@sbcglobal.net. I had completely forgot about this old ATT account and therefore it never crossed my mind. I doubt anyone really uses these accounts. By the grace of God I remembered the password to this account and when Yahoo! redirected me to ATT I used this old login with the old password I remembered and changed my password under this old email account and it worked!
Don't give up! That solution does work. Try to remember if you've moved or upgraded your internet to UVERSE or anything else that would potentially change your account info.
I hope this helps.

Here is another possible solution. I have an ATT phone and internet account, rather than Universe. I understand that this is a ATT Uverse forum, but I found this on the top of Google results for a more generic search and so am leaving this note in case it helps someone. Alongside my ATT account, I have a Yahoo mail account that I have used for a long time (plus another Yahoo mail address that was merged). The goal was to change my Yahoo account's password. I have similar problems changing my Yahoo mail password as voiced by many.
Unlike others who posted on this thread, I was not able to sign in to ATT using my Yahoo Login
The solution is to have my password at ATT reset and a new password set up. At this point, both ATT and Yahoo mail, plus any other Yahoo mail alias that is merged, will all shared the same password. So I was able to change my Yahoo password finally. Note it will have to be one password for ATT and Yahoo emails, plus other Yahoo email aliases that may be merged.
The solution is straightforward once you know what's happening. It took about 2 hours on the phone with a helpful ATT rep to resolve this. In my case, the gentleman who helped me went an extra mile to figure it out, and I hope he goes far in his career. I think the customer support management of ATT should really pay attention and train their reps on this. It's better to share the solution and save everyone time.

Got it fixed after the hacker got into my account for a second time. I could not change my yahoo password to save my life. Everytime I changed my sbcglobal password, it would change my husband's yahoo password and not mine.
After an hour of customer service time with ATT (go to the second tier customer service because the first guy wanted me to just go talk to yahoo and was very unhelpful), the wondeful cs guy figured it out! The problem was my yahoo email was merged with a SUBACCOUNT, not my master account.
In order to change my yahoo password we had to find the correct subaccount that it was linked to, and then I could change it from there.
See if that helps! Good luck people!

I tried all these yesterday and nothing worked. Today I found a place that said to sign on to att with your full email address under phone and internet and change your password through there. That worked. I was previously signing on with only my ID as yahoo and att will let you, but once I put in the entire email address (...sbcglobal.net), I hovered over "profile" at the top of the page and selected "change your password". Maybe this will help someone.

Here is alink I got after trying forever and finally talking to someone on LiveChat. If this link takes you to a sign on screen you will have to sign on and then it should take you to the change password screen. on't know why on earth they can't make it easier to do from the website.
