This worked perfectly... hopefully changing the password will keep those spammers from sending all my contacts bogus messages. The link worked perfectly!

The place to change your password is hidden under the "Profile" spot on the top bar on the AT&T main screen.

EVERYTHING you call AT&T for takes a minimum of 1 hour of phone time. When you are done you are still not satisfied with the results. A miserable company.
Metalkatz900 wrote:I am pulling hair out trying this and even called customer service was on the phone for an hour and had to hang up because they kept sending me off to someone else who didnt know what to do! So mad I want to cancel my UVERSE.
I need to change my yahoo email address password because someone or a virus keeps sending bad emails to people on my contact list. This is not my member id account, it is just a yahoo account that I had listed for contact. I think I must have merged my yahoo account with att at some point and now when I click on "manage passwords and account" on yahoo it takes me to att main page. I will login and still am clueless how to change it, have tried everything but dont see where I can change it. Im really upset at something this small taking 2.5 hours out of my evening for something that should only take 5 minutes or less!
Please help
Thanks
Shawn

Same problem. No clear way of chaning yahoo password now. Is Yahoo and ATT trying to commit suicide? If things keep on going like that, I might have no choice but migrate to gmail.

Sorry brock029, but there is a way. The problem is that once they're merged, you're trapped. Every time you try to make a change to your preferrences you are redirected from the yahoo site to an ATT site. This would all work if your information was there, but it's not. You have to start from square one without any ability to make the changes you seek.
As others have stated. I think we're dealing with a CS issue.

Since your email accounts have been merged by UVerse, you have to control your passwords through the AT&T UVerse portal. This is where you can change your password for your email address as well as any sub account email addresses created. Here are instructions for changing Password that should help:
Sign out of your yahoo account
Go to the following link (cut & paste in your browser) att.yahoo.com/changepassword
Once there, go to the graphic of Selecting your type of Service
Select the Uverse service you have being Residential or Business as appropriate
You should then be put on the login page for the service you have
Login: with youremailaddress@sbcglobal.net email address or the original email address you started with yahoo along with your password.
Go to section under the User Information Tab of Security Information. Then select “Edit Security Information”. This is where you can change your password along with Security Questions and Answers. Also, you can see your sub accounts on the tab above to the right of the tab you are on.
Hopefully, you will be able to change your password to avoid the issues with mailer damean email issues or just needing to update your email password for security purposes. Best of luck.

None of these links work for me. They keep sending me to ATT, and my yahoo username/password isn't recognized by them. I sent a PM to Alex. This is really sad.

I just recently have this happen to me. And I wanted to thank everyone who has posted here, without the forum, I don't think that I would have been able to figure out the problem.
I was able to change my yahoo password after I linked all of my accounts. I only linked my @yahoo.com account and that did not change anything. But then I read that if you had an @sbcglobal.net account, you needed to link that also. I did have an @sbcglobal account many years ago. Once I linked this account, I was able to go onto my email with my new password.
Thanks again for all the great posts.

Yay! After 2 fruitless hours talking to the <ahem> experts at at&t, I finally got something that I can use with the link you provided here.
Now, will at&t provide a means to decouple my now deactivated at&t uverse account with my yahoo account? I don't want to rely on this link in the future because it could easily be removed. BTW, what is this branding between at&t and yahoo anyways? It is really confusing as to what I am logging into and where. You seem to blur the distinction between accounts and it is really frustrating. This latest fiasco of not letting yahoo users change their password if they cannot for some reason change their at&t one (for me, it was because I not longer use at&t and my at&t account is not active) really reeks.
c'mon, fix this!

Nearly 2 hours on the phone with ATT, and still wasn't able to change my yahoo password because it's "merged" with our household email acct (sbcglobal.net)...and then was disconnected by tech support!
I clicked on the link suggested, entered a new password, then got the message that "service is unavailable"...3 times today!
Please, how can I change my yahoo password?!<

Send Alex a PM he is an ATT Community Manager on the forum. He will get you to the right person or dept. to get your issue resolved.

I've had similar problems as everyone else. I go to Yahoo and it sends me to ATT. I go to pay my bill online and the user id and passwords never seem to work. I tried the link from above:
https://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot?done=http%3A%2F%
It took me to a page where I could actually change my yahoo password. I made them the same and hopefully have ended my hours of hassle and frustration.
Thank you, thank you!

I've been trying to change my email password for years (yes, YEARS) to no avail. I've called AT+T and Yahoo and each gives me some sort of run-around.
I'm surprised that this is such a common issue! How unfortunate!
I did try the link BEC1 posted. Unfortunately it said the "service was unavailable" at this time. I think it's because whenever i've tried to log in with my old SBCGlobal account, I've been told that that account is "suspended or deleted" (Several phone calls to AT+T could NOT resolve this)
My last glimmer of hope is my PM to Alex. I hope he can help.

I see that Torando replied to your private message on 7/24 requesting some additional information.
Are you still experiencing this issue?

Well done!

That link probably would work if you still have an att account. Mine hasn't been around for years, and i get the "Service Unavailable" message. I try about twice a year to reclaim my account from the spammers getting online with customer support, never getting anywhere.
ATT_Jam, what can i do?

Hey there ![]()
Lets see what we can do. Will you please shoot me a private message with your name, account number, phone number and the best time to contact you? If you would include a summary of what's been happening and what's already been tried, that would be great.
To send a private message, you can either click on the link in this message or click on the little blue envelope in the upper right hand corner, click "compose new message" and type my username in the "Send To" field.

My yahoo account (sbcglobal subaccount, merged with at&t) was hacked and I was forced into trying to change the password. Previous attempts to do so last year through AT&T's website were futile and left me fuming.
After chatting with Brendon, there are two methods to change your password:
1. login to your AT&T account at ATT.com using your subaccount as follows: userid@sbcglobal.net. Your password should be your AT&T account password. My AT&T account was set up awhile ago to manage my AT&T bill, which consists of phone and DSL.
When you log in you are able to change your password. I have another userID I use for my AT&T bill management and had no idea I could log in with the email subaccount. I had been trying to change the password using my "other" AT&T userID. Really frustrating as there are no directions unless you call or chat.
2. Use this direct site, which you can bookmark, to change your yahoo ID.
The chat guy gave me this when I complained it was too much to expect to have to remember yet another way to log in just to make a password change.
I still think these work arounds really stink. To have to make a phone call or chat and spend 4 hours just to track down how to make an email password change is ridiculous.
