Hello guys and gals, gizzards and mad dogs, etc.
I'm sure it is just for the sake of marketing, but AT&T has began calling my ADSL service (copper not fiber) by a brand-new moniker: "U-Verse Internet." The DSL moniker I was used to has been dropped officially from my account. Yet, I cannot as of yet get the U-Verse television service or the U-Verse VOIP, even though I am supposedly now on U-Verse Internet, officially. The other fly in the U-Verse ointment is the fact that with a U-verse connection to the Internet I should be getting 12mbs down if I want it, but I am still stuck at 6mbs with no higher-speed options available at present--which of course leads me to believe I am still on copper DSL instead U-Verse fiber, despite what AT&T is telling me.
However, I am wondering if AT&T is in the process of bringing U-Verse fiber into my area, as in "into my address"--hence they're changing the name of my copper service to U-Verse Internet. If so, then I suppose-- obviously-- that the fiber hasn't been laid yet, hence nothing's really changed for me *except* the change in the name of the official service AT&T is selling me each month. I'd very much like to think this might mean that U-Verse is on its way to me in the next few months!
Anyone else had a similar experience living in an area that is being converted to to U-Verse fiber from the older ADSL copper?

Contact Alex about your situation with not being able to get services or speed.
Technically, UV is NOT all fiber unless you are an FTTP customer (fiber directly to your home); most of us are FTTN (copper the last mile). They are apparently still misleading customers. ![]()
Friends of mine just got upgraded to UV HSI and they've had regular ATT DSL HSI forever. They were told regular DSL was going away in our area, and were required to switch over to UV HSI.

Maybe, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
