Hi yes as the title says I will be buying a house soon the problem is I'm not sure when I'll be moving in. We're currently going through the process now and waiting to hear back from the seller if he'll fix the outside wood issues. I'm enjoying Uverse I have both Tv and internet and I'd like to keep my account and have it in the new place. I'm moving out of my apartment and into my parents guest house so I don't have to sign for another year with the land lady while i wait for all this to go through.
I just needed to know can I put my account on hold till we move in to the house? I saw the vacation hold thing but this will be a different address and may take two month or maybe even less (or more).
Thanks for any help.

Hey Tim.
Don't know if you've checked availability yet, so I would start here to verify you can actually get Uverse at your new home. http://www.att.com/u-verse/availability/#fbid=JsZT
That being said, if you are unsure of the wait time, Vacation Hold probably would not be for you as there is a minimum 60 days and apparently a reactivation fee if less than 60 days, as well the Vacation Hold would keep the line at your old apartment from being reassigned to the new tenant.
Due to the new address, you will most likely have to get a new account. There is an upside and down side to the new account though. With a new account, you are eligible for new/latest promotional pricing, but they may try to hit you with a Early Termination Fee if you had a six month or one year contract at your old address because there will be a gap in your service.
Now, if you could get your service transfered to your parents guest house and then transfered to your new home with minimal interuption you probably could get the ETF dropped, if there is one.
The main thing to keep in mind is, when you call to get the service turned off at your old apartment, verify that they actually turned it off, as it is not uncommon for people to have the service turned off at their new home because they have six months of outstanding bills for service at their old address.

If you are actually moving out of your apartment, you should cancel your U-verse account. As soon as you know when you will move into your new house, arrange for a new install at that location.
The only "hold' available for U-verse is the Vacation hold. This does not apply to you since you will no no longer be at that location. You also still have to pay a small monthly fee during the period of the vacation hold.

One last thing, I've had U-verse for almost two years so I shouldn't have to worry about an early termination fee but what about the two boxes the modem. We're moving all the big things that are left tomorrow because I have to be out by the 30th. Do they take the stuff back and if so how long till they pick it up?

The U-verse equipment is not picked up. When you cancel service, U-verse will provide you with instructions to take your equipment to an appropriate UPS store where the equipment will be packed and returned to U-verse.
