Last year I had the U-Verse bundle + combined billing. My bills were were never right. Every month I would call and they would have to remove nearly $150 to $200 of charges that were not suppose to be on our bill. Needless to say I opted out of combined billing which finally took effect about 3 months later (or more) after calling repeatedly to customer service when they neglected to "remove me immediately for all of the billing issues I had to deal with". We moved last November so I cancelled my Internet services which removed me from U-Verse. I continued to keep the home phone for my grandmother who moved in right after us and was going to start the process of getting her own service but in the meantime she would pay mine. I was charged internet services as well as the whole U-Verse bill for months to come because they said they have failed to disconnect the internet which left my U-verse in tact. I spoke with customer service each time the $500 bill came in and they always promised to fix the issue and noted that they also knew I was up to date on all of the bills that I was responsible for Including the outrageous final bill for the internet services. After hours each month dedicated to disputing the charges and speaking with every department known to ATT I finally was promised my issue would be taken care of for the last time. A few months later I get a notice in the mail from a collections company stating that I still owe almost $600 for that U-Verse charge that was repeatedly promised to be fixed. When I confronted ATT dispute department they looked into the case and saw no area where I should owe the money and read all of the notes saying it was a bogus charge. She told me she also wrote another report showing I owed nothing and tried to talk to her supervisor while I listened to tell him they need to clear it out. He stated she shouldn't even be talking to me because it has gone to collections and its not their problem, its mine. She told me to dispute the charge through the collection/credit people and she would again note my account.
I did what she said and for a month I had no collections notices! Yesterday I checked my mail and to my surprise ATT sent my bill to yet another collector. Again I am lied to! Now they say I owe almost $700. This company says I should pay it through a payment plan and they will dispute it through ATT. If ATT agrees with me, they will pay me back the charges. This does not seem fair! What do I do when I cannot afford an attorney to fight this? I don't think ATT is going to pay me back after I give them money even with the bank stubs proving I paid every month. How are companies allowed to do this? I still have service with them, isn't it crazy they didn't shut it down after not paying? Is there anyone that can help me fight this hassle that was only here due to the neglect of their employees????? PLEASE HELP
