I've succesfully used the Uverse vacation hold but, it is limited to once during any 12 month period. For those of us that spend 5 or 6 months out of the year at a different home, is our only recourse to cancel the service and return the equipment then restart the service when we return?

If you are asking for more, shorter periods, I can see it would be good for some folks. Maybe at&t could provide the first one free and set a fee for subsequent holds to cover the turn up/ turn down. LIke the charge for account activity.

My experience with CS has brought me to the conclusion that if you make a request to a CSR and they don't do it, for whatever reason. Politely end the call and then call back until you get one who is cooperative. I recently called in a request and was told a definite no, and that ATT didn't do that. I called a third time and the CSR granted my request. During each call I was respectful, and in the long run got what I was looking for. YRMV.
