Why does U-Verse not want its battery power box & modem returned when an account is cancelled?

I canceled U-verse bundle after having it for a week. I was told to return the equipment to a UPS store. I received a envelope from AT&T confirming this with the confirmation number. In it it states to return the following equipment: 2Wire RG 3800HGV-B Motorola Inc STB VIP12116 Motorola Inc STB VIP1200 But when they installed all the equipment they included a backup battery box & a network modem HUB (Model #i38HG). It states in the letter from AT&T U-Verse to NOT return them. Does that mean I have to return them separately or does AT&T not want me to return them at all? Also what is the "2Wire RG 3800HGV-B"? Is that the HDMI cables or the coax/phone cables?

It means ATT doesn't want those items, they are yours to keep.  The BBU was essentially yours since when the battery needed to be replaced, you would have to buy it ($150).

Having a an i38HG means you have an Inid outside or in a Garage that contains the 2wire RG 3800 HGV (actually a 3802 in the iNid).

The gray box above is the iNid. that's what they want back.  If there is a phone # to call about this, ask them about the iNid
