when i ordered uverse internet i was told i would get a $100 rebate after 30 days of service. i never got any rebate. i can not log in to the rewards center because it doesn't recognize my uverse account number. all the suggested 800 numbers all end at the same point -- they don't recognize my account number. i know i am using the correct account number because it's the one i use to pay my uverse bill direct from my bank account. it works fine when i'm sending money to at&t, but when i'm supposed to be getting money back, it doesn't work.
this is very frustrating -- no way to email tech support directly, no way to get a live person on the phone.

I don't understand why you are having problems, but try sending a PM to Alex who is an AT&T Community Manager on this forum.

well, no response from Alex. 30 years ago you had a problem with your telephone account, you picked up a phone, called the company and got a live person immediately who would take care of your problem. today, it's impossible to even contact anyone, much less get a problem resolved.
what a crock.

Give him a chance. If you read around the forum, you can probably tell he's a very busy man with many people to respond to.
Yup, it's not like it was 30 years ago. 30 years years ago you would not have been typing a post on a computer on a forum on the internet visible to an infinite number of people, complaining about not being able to contact anyone.![]()

You still can pick up the phone and get someone to resolve your problems. You indicated that the account number that you have is not recognized which is rather odd and a situation that I cannot recall being reported before. That is the reason that I suggested that you contact Alex who helps customers deal with issues that they have been unable to get resolved.
Typically you can expect a response to inquiries made through this forum within 24 - 48 hours. This forum is not the vehicle for reporting issues that need immediate attention.

and your point is what???? with all the technology we have today, you would think support would be far better than it was 30 years ago. but it's exactly the opposite -- it's FAR WORSE. 48 hours after posting my question, i still have no help. again, 30 years ago i would have had an answer with one simple five minute phone call.
i should note that i'm not singling out AT&T here -- it's every megacorporation. i can count on one hand the number of companies that have decent customer support these days. and still have a couple of fingers left over.

well, no, i can't -- that's why i'm here in the first place. as i said in my original post, i tried three different 800 numbers that various help web pages told me to call. all three were interactive voice response systems with no option anywhere to get to a live operator. they all dead-ended at "invalid account number". some of the web pages suggested i visit an AT&T store. yeah, right -- i've been to those stores before on other issues, and gotten no help whatsoever.
anyway, i do appreciate your attempt to help. i'll give Alex some more time -- i'm accustomed to at least getting some type of acknowledgement that my email was received and i'll get a more deailed answer later when i correspond with technical support, but i guess AT&T can't even be bothered with that.

The next time you call in (800-288-2020 8:00-5:00 CT), when you get the voice promts, either agree to the phone number if it's correct or just say "I don't have one". Then just keep repeating "none of those". You should be transfered to a person fairly quickly, and when you get a person, insist that they transfer you to the Retention Department. I've always gotten prompt and competant service from them.
