I am tired of so many people making posts on here that are their very 1st message.
I propose that a minumun number of posts be made by a user before they can start a topic (5, 10, whatever it is)
so many "drive-by" 1 and done types on here, and it reads like SPAM
Just my 2 cents worth

What about the person that posts for the first time because they have a legitimate question or are seeking help to get an issue resolved? Don't think your idea would fly, IMO.

I don't like the idea. It would reduce the usefulness of the forum to those who come here for help.

I agree with jfw and TG. I started on the forum because of a problem, and I doubt that I would have had the knowledge or patience to make multiple posts before I could seek help. While there are a lot of "one and done" posts, I believe that your suggestion would discourage those with legitimate problems or questions. Sifting through the one-timers is a small price to pay for helping those that need it, which is, I believe, the main purpose of the forum.

Not everyone wants to hang out of a message board. If a non-posting U-Verse customer has a problem, he ought to be able to post here asking for help with no previous activity.

That's why we have Moderators. ![]()

Thank you for your suggestion, but I'm afraid that would defeat much of the purpose for this community. Most of the people would just end up posting their problems in unrelated threads out of sheer frustration. I'm afraid its just one of those things us moderators have to deal with in a support community ![]()
Remember to always mark items that you find useful as "Accepted Solutions”, you can even mark multipleposts in a single thread. This will help other users find this information too!!

I still think there are many many people making their 1st post as a "spam" type... without so much as a simple search
maybe better moderation is the solution

If you see a post that is about a topic that already has a thread, feel free to use the Report Inappropriate Content feature and include a link to the main thread about this topic. This is something the CL's here already do. I get several Abuse Reports a day about this and I merge the threads. ![]()

The vast majority of moderators have, in my opinion, done a great job of moving, editing or removing posts within the forum guidelines. They have also closed threads that deviate from the appropriate or the relevant, or that go on ad infinitum with no possible solution in sight. There have only been a few times that I have disagreed with a moderator's action, but it is not my place to make that call and I respect their authority to act as they see fit to keep the forum organized and civilized. So long as these "one and done" posters are not violating any forum guidelines, I don't see the problem; nor do I see how the moderators could do any more or better, especially given the scope and size of the forum. Not only do they try to keep us in line, most of them participate and help with issues when possible. While I think your criticism is meant to be constructive, I disagree with it--I think a more practical solution is simply to ignore the "one-and-doners" if you so choose.

I am an AT&T employee and the postings on this site are my own and don't necessarily represent AT&T's position, strategies or opinion.

Why does it matter if it's their 1st or 50th post. If an AT&T U-Verse customer has a question for the Community or the Lounge, they have the right to ask. Don't reply if you don't have the answer or don't care about the responding. Let the moderators do their job.
