The page just says CONNECTING....I turned off the pop up blocker and the firewall and all that...i restared my computer and try redueing everything again...AND STILL the page shows CONNECTING and the box doesn't pop up so that I can save it under my documents.....I dont know how else to download the WM6.1...oh yeh I have windows XP ...And last night the box popped up and i clicked SAVE so it was downloading...i left the computer on so it can finish..and when i came to check on the download this morning..Somehow my computer restarted by itself...I dont see the download anywhere on my computer and in documents...And ya ..so i started doing everything over again....
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP !!! ill try to restart my computer again....but if anyone knows what to do and there's another way to upgrade my BJ II wm6 to wm6.1 ...i would really appreciate the help...THANKS!

Here is the link that I give out and have used.
the only difference is the this link does not have %20 at the end. Give this link a try, it has worked for others.
edited: OK, I just clicked on the link and it opened up right away. follow the instructions completely allowing quiet time cuz you need to pay attention. I left my SIM card in and it worked fine.

Almost forgot, here is the instructions I wrote for upgrading to 6.1:
Follow the instructions carefully except, leave your SIM card in the phone. For some reason, removing the SM card creates recognition issues. You will have to have the software from the CD that came with your phone in your computer because your phone will have to be linked to the computer for the download.
Turn off any spyware programs and your firewall. MAKE SURE TO TURN THEM BACK ON ONCE THE UPGRADE IS COMPLETE!!
One other item, with 6.0, you can link to more than one computer. After the upgrade, it will only allow you to link to one computer. It is a known issue by Samsung, but they have not released the fix to AT&T or any other carrier that carries the blackjack2. Sooo, BEFORE you upgrade, keep this in mind. It doesn't bother me because I only need one computer link.
Other than this one issue, 6.1 is very well worth it.

ya when im tryin to open things up like messages, settings etc...and texting..when im typing it seems like its trying to catch up with me and the messages loading slows things down.... i tried the soft reset and hard reset too... it kinda got better but the text is still trying to catch up when im typing
OK, I know what you mean. it's like there's not enough RAM and it takes a few seconds to respond to commands. As far as typing, just how fast are your typing? Even with my big fingers, I thing I'm up to about 40 words per minute and it does not slow up at that speed. If you are about the same speed and it is slow in responding, I'd give Customer Service a call and run it past them.

now im having another problem...i set one of my personal ringtones for my text..when i get a text my phone stays vibrating and it plays the whole song...it wont stop and when i get another txt the song plays over while the first song is finishing lol ..and how do you master reset the phone? and whats the D-Pad ..cus i read a forum on doing the master reset i couldnt do it cus i didnt know what D-Pad is...
OK, first, before trying a master reset, try turning it off for a couple of minutes then back on and see if that works. With the BJ2, you need to reboot it at least once a day, or when it starts acting strange. Like rebooting a computer cuz the bj2 thinks it's a mini computer.
Second, if that doesn't work, try the "soft reset". While it's on, remove the battery. Then replace it after a minute or so and turn it on. check to see if the problem is corrected.
Now, a "Hard reset"/master reset is also easy to do. However, any downloaded programs, such as photos, ringtones will be gone. The hard reset will put the BJ2 back to out-of-the-box condition (except for the WM6.1 upgrade). It will not erase your contacts as long as they are on the SIM card memory. Any that are on the phone memory will be gone.
Here's how to do a "hard reset":
Press Start>Settings>More>Security>More>Reset and follow the directions.
Another way to perform the "hard reset" is to turn off the phone. Now while pressing and holding up on the Directional-pad, turn the phone on and follow the directions from there. (D-pad, the round circular thing that you use to move around the screen)
You will need to reset up the phone to your liking again, but this should fix a consistent problem that turning it off/on or the soft reset will not fix. It's kind of a PIA to have to reset everything, but at least you have a last resort to fix problems.

you dont need a hard reset. all you need is a shorter ringtone.
go get mp3trim or something of the like, trim down the file you want to use, and toss that onto the device instead.

Hey jii,
What I was addressing was that fact that the first song would keep playing while the second would start and both play at the same time. I think a soft reset would stop this issue.
I do agree with you about getting a shorter alert though. I did the same thing with mine but set to an alarm and even though I would acknowledge the alarm, the song kept going on.
X3pink,
Do research the advise of jii and get a shorter alert for messages/emails/alarms and you should be good to go.

This is an issue that shouldn't be happening. Actually, try the online live tech support here first. You can probably get the problem corrected quicker by having a live chat with a tech. They are close on the weekends, but they should be there first thing in the morning.

ghost: have you ever booted up your phone only to hear the loud, mangled sound of all your notifications going off at once because youve got new sms/mms, vmails, and emails? multiple sounds playing at once is normal if the person is using a full .mp3 for an sms alert and gets 2 or more in quick succession.
x3, did you perform an efs clear after flashing over the new rom?

No, I can honestly say that has never happened to me. Guess I'm not that popular. ![]()

ok ya i did that... i called tech support and they said the only thing to do is to reinstall wm6.1 and do everything your supposed to do...or call microsoft or samsung and ask them if there's anything to do about the slow text... so i reinstalled it.and when i was texting it got a little faster..then later on it went back to bein slow... so ill give samsung a call...and if theres nothing they can do i guess im just gonna have to deal with the whole slow text ... because i cant return my phone now it has a little scratch on it and i dont know if the att store will take it back and give me a new one..i still have a week till i can return it..
Where is the scratch located?
If anything, you still have a warranty for a year from the time you bought it and AT&T can send you another BJ2. It would be refurbished, but it probably won't have the slowness problem.

there are unofficial versions of 6.1 available for the 617 thatve been stripped of bloatware and such, freeing up a lil bit of precious memory.
not telling you what to do, just a heads up.

The slow response to text input is confusing though. The OP can type over 50 WPM and the BJ2 shouldn't be having a problem handling that speed with the WM6.1 upgrade.
