Everyone who thought they purchased the newest in technology of windows phones the Lumia 900 really ended up with out dated hardware and applications. Windows has announced their NEW flagship the Window 8.0 phone only a few months after the release of their last flagship Lumia 900. The 8.0 operating system is NOT compatible with 7.5 operating system. This means no updates to 8.0 and the new 8.0 apps will not work on 7.5. The incompatibility of the apps will just about close the door on any future development of 7.5 apps. The developers will have their hands full just developing apps for 8.0. The question is will AT&T just stand around and do nothing. I was in a AT&T retail store today and AT&T is still promoting this phone as the greatest thing since sliced bread. AT&T now that you know this is out dated hardware with no future please take it off your shelves. One more thing, the 7.8 update that Microsoft has anounced is a JOKE.

Do you even OWN a Lumia or are you just here to troll?
The answer to your trolling comments is, not quite. The SDK for 8 hasn't been released yet, no 7.5 apps are disappearing and there are a LOT of 7.5 apps in the works. When someone writes a program for 8.0, it's just a single click to recompile for 7.5 if it's even needed. As far as the Lumia, it has a lot of updates yet to come and 8.0 requires new hardware. Did you expect the Lumia to get new hardware along with the new OS? Did you expect the Lumia 900 to receive new screen resolutions, an external SD, or a dual core processor?
It's going to be a LONG time before exclusive 8 apps happen. A long, LONG time.
You do know that 7.8 is going to have more than just a new metro interface, right? This has been confirmed by the dev team already. They chose not to announce ALL the new features for 7.8 or 8 due to staying ahead of the competition.
One last thing, the vast majority of cell phone users are unaware of what OS version they are running. The lack of 8 is not a problem and is also more honest that Apple's "5.0 for everybody!!!!" approach when in reality the 5.0 the 4s gets is much more feature rich than the 5.0 the 3GS gets.
I own a 1st gen, a 2nd Gen and will own a 3rd Gen. Microsoft's single core between platforms is very forward thinking and will put them way ahead of Android or iOS.

I have an iPhone 4S now, but would certainly consider Windows Phone and the Surface when replacing my phone in the future.
Everyone has a personal opinion, yet I do not quite see your point, aspag1.

I'm pretty sure it's just trolling. I doubt we'll see him back and I'm sure he doesn't own a Windows Phone.

McHale72, you have been misled. It will take way more than a single click to recompile a WP8 app to work with WP 7.5. A WP8 app will have to be recoded entirely.

Actually, no. In visual studio, if you're making a windows phone app with the WP8 SDK, and you're sticking with managed code and using features that are supported on both versions, you can select as the compile target "7.x" or "8.x" and hey, presto, you get an app that runs with WP7.5 vs WP8
So maybe it's three clicks?
