I highly recommend everyone to read Microsoft's update info. It details what we would have had on our phones had we chosen a better carrier. As soon as WP8 drops, Verizon, here I come!
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-gb/howto/
Update 7.10.8773.98
Messaging. Adds new messaging capabilities to your phone. You can now attach multiple pictures, videos, audio notes and ringtones to text messages.
SIM card. Adds features related to SIM card contacts. You can now export phone contacts to a SIM card and selectively import SIM card contacts to your phone.
Other quality improvements. Includes many other improvements to Windows Phone.
This update is not available in all markets or for all phones.
Update 7.10.8107.79
On-screen keyboard. Fixes an issue to prevent the keyboard from disappearing during typing.
Email. Fixes an issue when syncing with Google mail.
Location. Fixes an issue with accessing location. With this fix, the Me feature in the People Hub only sends anonymous information about nearby WiFi access points and mobile phone masts to Microsoft if you agree to allow the Check In function to access and use location information.
Security. Revokes digital certificates from DigiCert Sdn Bhd to address an encryption issue.
Email threads. Fixes an email issue related to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. With this fix, when you reply to or forward a message, the original message is now included in your response.
Voicemail. Fixes a voicemail notification display issue that occurs on some European and Asian networks under certain conditions.
Update 7.10.7740.16

That is just great but it means nothing to AT&T users.
When will AT&T release the update?

AT&T will not be releasing this or any other updates for existing Windows Phone users, except for the Lumia 900.

This could be a blessing in disguise. AT&T has always been on thin ice for me. If they drop the ball here and this will be the final nail in their coffin, and my next carrier choice will be easier with one player firmly out of the race.

I dropped my home phone, DSL and U-Verse out of my loathing for AT&T. The cell phone is the last thing I have with them. I only stayed with them because of the beauty of the SIM card. That's the ONLY reason. Well, T-Mobile has already proven they have much better customer service and 10x the Windows Phone support. Verizon is going head first into Windows Phone 8. AT&T promised the biggest launch ever for the Lumia 900 and they couldn't have screwed that up any more if they tried, which I heard they DID try to tank by the way.
For TV, I put up an antenna and get about 70 HD channels for free. I couldn't be happier and I have AT&T to thank for it.
When I worked for Lucent Technologies as a UMTS engineer, can you guess who had the DUMBEST engineers I ever worked with? We're currently on their forums.

I have the HD7S that didn't get the keyboard fix update and the Tango update is out for T-mobile devices in 2 days what kind of company just sits their worrying about new customers and new android phones while your other customers with windows phones are left out with bugs and no updates. I am glad nokia and microsoft have agreed to make high end windows phones like the lumia 900 and the titian for all the U.S. carriers so we don't have to put up with a carrier that wont pass updates to thier customers.

The only reason we haven't gotten updates for our phones is because AT&T hasn't figured out how to make free updates into a HUGE profit for them. AT&T took a position under this new administration that if it doesn't create a profit for the company, it isn't worth doing.
Apple knew what they were doing when they took the updates out of the hands of AT&T. It wasn't a lucky guess on how horrible their device support is.
I've never wanted a company to go bankrupt so much in my entire life. I really, REALLY hope AT&T dies a horrible, painful death. They deserve it.

i realize this is an old post, and at this point we're all just waiting on 7.8, but i did the MFG / debrand hack and set MobileOperator to 000-88, and it gave me 4 updates that AT&T didn't think were important enough to give us (to be fair, 2 of them weren't), including 8773.98. just something to play w/ if anyone's bored w/ their tired old mango phones.
