Every day or so, sometimes twice a day, my Pantech Ease will shut off without me doing anything. I go to use the phone and find that it's off. I carry it in a leather belt pouch, so it's not like the button is getting pressed accidently. I delete all texts at the end of every day, and don't store many pictures or videos -- I basically use it for calls and texting. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have had my Ease for about a month and a half, and haven't had that problem at all. I could see where that would be a real pain.

Did you ever fix this problem? Mine does the same thing. It didn't start doing it until recently. I've had it for 2 months.

This seems to remain a problem for more than just the Pantech DUO...it's a problem with the Ease and other models too...overall I like the phone, but there's no help from AT&T but especially none from Pantech...obviously a problem endemic to all their hardware and "software"/OS and Pantech doesn't even recognize it as an issue...they need to fix this...shame on them - there's no accountability these days...seems to be the state of affairs in our country today. AT&T won't push the issue I'm sure..."Hey Pantech! Fix this problem or we're not distributing your junk any more!"...I'm ashamed to be a US citizen any more...ashamed...no matter, or should I say because of, what Ayn Rand says.

Same issue. Huge problem. Happening non-stop. Daughter has had phone for 3 days.
Please share any ideas. Will return phone if there is no fix. I was quite leary of the Pantech brand to start, but ATT Sales assured "no issues" and was a robust phone.

I should have posted this earlier...my bad...I remember people having problems with iPod batteries and unexpected shut-dows some years ago and I applied that solution to my Pantech...I swear it hasn't shut down unexpectedly in the last 2 months...with iPods, you had to use the flap from a pack of matches, but obviously that would be too thick for the Pantech case...instead, I took a printed, commercial coupon, folded it in half, then cut it close to the size of the Pantech battery, put it on top of the battery and then closed the case. It did the trick for me...hope it works for everybody.

I thought it was me! My phone starting shutting off 3 weeks after I got it. It tends to turn off after I close keyboard from texting.
I have taken it in, and had techs pull out battery etc. I have been told to go to a local AT&T warranty store for an exchange. They have manuf. warr. for 1 year. I haven't decided if I am going to turn in now, because if this is not an isolated problem, swapping phones may not make a difference. For now mine only shuts off once or twice a day. Good luck

So you are saying the battery is not in tight? Hmm if that is what you are saying, I may try that instead of a new phone. I do love the phone.THX

I just bought two Pantech Ease phones and have the same issue. Mine started right away, shutting down at times when I closed the keyboard. So after two days I went to the local corporate store and got it replaced and the new one did the same thing.
I tried installing the new sim card I got with the phone but at the same time I tried the paper in the battery compartment thing and it hasn't turned off in two days. Don't know if this is temporary or not but we will see.
My wife's phone shuts down at times when she is not using it. That is annoying because you have no idea when it goes off. I put a paper in her battery compartment last night so we will see if that works.

I was wondering if anyone has figured out why the Pantech Ease shuts off...lately, I have been having some serious issues. I have had this phone for almost 1 & 1/2 yrs & the only problem I've ever had was people say they can't understand me when I talk...so I just text!! Anyway, within the last 2 weeks the phone has gone crazy..1st it would not send texts, that cleared up & was ok, but then I could not open picture messages, couldn't receive calls(would either go straight to vmail or ring busy) couldn't access my pictures & everytime I tried to dial a number that started with a 2 the phone would shut down. I stayed on the phone with A T & T for almost 2 hours troubleshooting with no results. Then out of the blue ... 3 days later ....everything was working properly....then a few days later.... same problems again.....now 2 days later...everything is fine....it is driving me crazy!!! anyone else having these problems...during times of trouble...I can dial #'s as long as they don't start with a 2, I can access my videos, I can text & for the most part use the phone, but it is a nuisance.

Thank you so much for the advice...I put a business card folded in half over my battery, affixed it with a little tape, put the back on the phone, and it fixed the problem of the phone shutting off when I closed the keyboard. Most of the time people calling me would hear an echo and once I switched off the noise reduction, it was gone. I love this phone and I was not able to find a comparable one with the same features at a reasonable price. I am very happy to have been able to work out some of the kinks. Thanks!

I've had my phone since about July. The screen doesn't work sometimes and other times it's responsive to anything it touches. Recently, it turns itself on or off and randomly reboots itself when I text something and press a certain key. It is very annoying. I want a new phone; not worth the hassle.
