Thanks, although I'm slightly larger than a grasshopper.. ![]()
I want to test to see if they did anything with the Bluetooth audio by default as well. But, overall, it seems to be a huge improvement.

Let us know how it takes you through the day. I want to know if I can mark this issue as resolved

Don't be too quick to mark it as resolved. The FOTA stopped my phone from freezing up during standby - for a week. Then it went back to the every day/every other day freezing up.
I installed the update last night. So far, so good. Made a couple of calls with no hangs, noticed that the LEDs still stop blinking. Time will tell.

Yeah, I wouldn't mark it as resolved yet. From what I've seen at this point it's much better than it was, but too early to tell. I personally was having problems with FOTA since the first day. No major issues so far. Minor stuff at the moment, but I haven't isolated if it was me doing something stupid (very possible), or if it's an issue with the update.

So guys, is this a different update then the other FOTA update. I never installed the FOTA update because of the reported problems.
Thanks,
Nate

I would definitely install this one. This is supposed to take care of all your issues. I doubt there will be any other update past this one

Correct. This will erase everything on your phone. You should back up anything important prior to installing this

Forgive me a dumb question.
But if I do a full backup with Resco, then install the Samsung update, wouldn't doing a full restore kind of "undo" what I just updated with the Samsung update?
Might I not overwrite patched files by restoring?

What are you backingup apart from contacts and settings? None of the system files are being backuped

Yes. you would potentially overwrite the new system files with the old ones. don't back up your system data. just back up your PIM and your My Documents directory (or what ever folder you have your data saved in).
There are a number of different options. The Microsoft My Phone beta (http://myphone.microsoft.com) site is one that will backup your data for free (including PIM, pics, txt messages, and files) unless you're using an Exchange Server for mail (and then My Phone assumes that Exchange will handle all of your PIM data). The other back up products like Resco Backup and Sprite Backup also do a good job, but those products are shareware.

The only bummer with MyPhone is that it doesn't support the Treo 750 messaging app. I want to be able to back those up so I can get 'em on my Epix, but I haven't figured any easy way out.
the Treo 750 uses WM (and therefore, Pocket Outlook/Inbox). I have one, but haven't tested this... but I see NO reason why the 750 would be any different than any other WM device, as long as you have it updated to WM6.x, I think... I forget what the stock OS was. However, I know there's a WM6.x update out there for it, and I know that it should work.
I'm not sure what you're bumping into. My Phone was created to deal with issues like this specifically. If you have things synchronizing with Exchange, My Phone will NOT back up that data. You have to break the sync relationship first to get it to sync your PIM data.
If you know all this, have done it all, etc.; and its still not working for you. then I'm confused about what is going on. Are you getting any kind of error message? have you soft reset the phone (rebooted)?

XP 32 bit? Odd. It's not so much that it's locking as it is trying to switch the phone from ActiveSync to Modem mode.
What I would do is pretty standard: disable any AV apps, close as many apps as you can in the background, make sure you're logged in with administrator rights. Odd seeing the issue with XP. Vista doesn't surprise me though.
Also, double check and ensure that the modem drivers are correct, and that all three components mentioned in the FAQ are showing up.
Now, when I did mine on my work desktop, I did none of the above, and I had no issues. So I'm not sure what could be causing it at this point.

From the install instructions, under Step Two: Install The Samsung Modem Drivers On The Computer.
7. The SGH-i907’s USB connection must be changed from ActiveSync to Modem.
8. On the phone, press Start > Settings > Connections > USB Connection Mode
9. Using the navigation pad, change the selection from ActiveSync to Modem, then select Ok
10. Connect the EPIX directly to the computer using the included USB cable. The Found New Hardware wizard should then be displayed on the computer.
11. Follow the on-screen prompts, if available, to complete the Samsung modem driver installation.
While I forgot to do this as well, my update didn't burp like some others are. There's obviously some kind of difference in the way some devices are communicating with their host PC's. Make sure you're following the instructions to the letter, and try again...
