I had a problem with my bill so I took it to the AT&T store. My billing problem was promptly handled, while there I mentioned to the gentleman behind the counter that this phone was really bad. He nodded and pulled up an electronic update he recently received from the company.
All Quickfires have been pulled from the shelves. Customers experiencing problems will be supplied with the Propel instead.
I was instructed to call 1-800-331-0500
It took a l-o-n-g time and I had to very politely escalate my issue to several people but after apx 1 hour of discussion I was issued a new Propel that will be here 2 business days.
**my billing problem was with the AT&T Navigation. I expected a one time charge of $9.99 for the download as well as $9.99 reoccurring monthly access to routes & reoccurring $9.99 for unlimited data access. In fact I was being charged a $9.99 download fee *every* month as if I were purchasing the app for the first time every month as well as the $9.99 unlimited routes AND the $9.99 unlimited data access plan. It went on 3 billing cycles before I caught on. Just sayin...check your bills...

From the wording of the electronic update and from your experience I would say that there is no recall, just a decision to pull them from the shelves. Reason for this thinking besides the wording of the update you ask? That it took a long time for you to get your Propel and that it had to escalate at all. A recall would have been much easier.
Did you get a NEW one or a refurbished one?

I was able to walk into a corporate store and ask them, they took care of everything for me there so I wouldn't have to call the customer care line. All I did was ask for the manager at the store and he gave me the option between the propel and the matrix. I was also outside of the 30 days and the manager said att was taking back any of the quickfires, whether inside the 30 or not

I am not sure what ATT's refund policy is. I would be interested to know if the 30 day return can be cash back. I do know that you can exchange this phone for any phone, plus or minus the difference, if it is within 30 days and you have not done so before as there is a limit of one exchange. So if all you want is the iphone you should be set! Just be aware that they have a $20.00 fee, which you may be able to wave if you mention the Quickfire being discontinued. I know when I went into the ATT store to complain about the keyboard light not going out under certain circumstances the guy said that if I exchanged it for the same phone I would not be charged the $20.00. Of course you do not have this option anymore, so therefore they should extend that same courtesy
EDIT:
Don't wait too long to go into the store as they count the day you bought the phone as day one. So if my calculations is correct today, Wednesday the 25th, might be your 28th day!

It took a long time because I was asking for the Vu. I wanted a touchscreen. I was offered a NEW Propel in the store, being sent a NEW Propel from warranty.
I am outside of the 30 days (had my QF for over 3 mo)

okay so they are disconting the quickfire. I just recently traded my phone with a friend of mine who wanted the quickfire and I wanted the blackberry. Well I hate the blackberry and I want the quickfire back and we were going to trade back. however if I trade her back will I still be able to use the quickfire on the AT&T network, or is it optional to take your phone in for the exchange? cause I loved the quickfire, but thought I would like the blackberry better, and it just so happens that I dont.
Thanks!! ![]()

I talked to an operator for AT&T, then went to two AT&T stores here in Oklahoma to see if there was indeed a recall of the
Quickfire. The operator said there was and to just go to any store and they would get my granddaughter another phone.
Neither store (in Oklahoma) even knew what kind of phone to replace it with and suggested that we wait until something
happened to her phone (which had already been replaced because of a faulty screen, since Christmas) then we should be
able to get another phone.......I said so if it's out of warranty what do we do and they told me they didn't know. Absolutely
NO help at all! They thought it would be replaced with a Propel, but weren't sure. I have been with Cingular/AT&T for a ton
of years and I've never had so much trouble getting any answers. It's frustrating to have to wait for something to go wrong
to possibly get another phone.....probably a refurbished. We spent a lot of money on her phone! They "might" give her
a refurbished phone? Please.......I'm very frustrated at this point!
Okay, I'm confused.

What's going on exactly?
AT&T is recalling/ discounting the phone?
I just bought one on I think, January 30th and it's working perfectly for me!
So should I exchange it?
Is it mandatory?
Sorry, I'm just confused.

However, I'm pretty sure it will get progressively worse, as mine did and others I know did.
I'm exchanging mine.

Some here are still saying recall when it comes to the Quickfire. To me the word recall means that the phone is not only not for sale, but that they will ask that everyone that has the QF to exchange it. Does anyone know if this is really a recall?
First, I don't seem to be having problems with the touch screen that others have, though there are a lot of quirks about the QF that I have been verbal about. Even so I don't plan on returning it as I like it otherwise. Especially since the phone they are replacing it with is not on the same par in my opinion. Not in feel or in price range.
It is nice that ATT is offering a new phone to all that want it if this indeed just taken off the shelf, but if it is mandatory I think they need to rework their deal.

I just bought a Quickfire on Valentines Day of this year. I Just now called my local AT&T store and the guy there told me that yes they were being recalled but not because there was anything wrong with them but because they were going to make a even better version.![]()

Oh, there's plenty wrong with them haha. I wouldn't be shocked if they did try and improve it and reintroduce them [just for the fact that they didn't really advertise/promote them in the first place] but as for there not being anything wrong.. hah. When I talked to the guy at the warranty department he said that the manufuacture and AT&T really released them too early and proper testing wasn't done-- which I can believe. He said he gets more calls about this phone than any other phone and actually had to go through training to deal with all of the issues and quirks of the Quickfire.
I had minimal issues with mine-- mostly random touch screen glitches.. but I really don't feel comfortable sticking with that phone for the rest of my 2 year contract if AT&T isn't going to stand behind it.

I am slightly confused too. I called yesterday and they offered me a refurb. propel or matrix. I am not happy with a refurb anything when I paid for a new phone in mid Nov. What they said was that b/c I am not 6mo or more into my contract there is nothing that can do but send out a refurb. Then gave me the mess about a refurb is just as good as new....which we all know is not necessarily true.
Are they in fact recalling the phones? and even if the don't, we should be entitled to a new replacement not a refurb.

Oh... I think that customers are entitled to a phone what works. Who's fault this phone is I don't know, but ATT put it out there and they are the ones responsible to the customer. They should have test marketed the phone better, or not be in a rush to get the phone out for the christmas shopping season. I am sure ATT is going to go after the manufaturer for some of this cost, though I can not know that for sure. It does make sense though.

I also called today, was on hold for 45 minutes. And was told only if you're experiencing the problem with the overheating will they give you a new phone. But they give you a Propel. When I bought my Quickfire it was more expensive then the Propel is, I asked about the diffrence in price. They said they will not give you the diffrence.
Luckly my phone dosen't overheat. But I know why they called it the quickfire.
