I Got My Quickfire back in November and been having problems with it since!!
The day after my purchase day I when back to the store, because it was getting extremely hot, the guy told me that it was normal
so I was like OKand kept it moving. Some days my screen didn't work, it got so bad that in those days I had to switch SIM cards with my fathers old Blackberry!!! So this morning Icalled customer service unaware of the "recall" issue and I explain the problems to the nice lady. She said that unfortunately they didn't have the Quickfire in stockand didn't know when they were going to have them again. She First offer me a Propel and I Told I wanted a Touch screen, she after that said the Matrix, but theMatrix is not touch screen, Them after speaking to her "supervisor" she offered me a LG VU as a last choice they had available. Later she explain that I had untiloriginal purchased day for warranty (I assume she was talking about My Quickfire) or 90 days which ever was later. And that was my experience!!!

Ken5 ---I have never received texts when the phone is off on the Quickfire - no matter what phone company they are from. I had called the AT & T number and spoke with numerous tec support people. Over the different people I spoke with - we went through many different trouble-shooting activities. I even switched out the SIM card in the Quickfire and it still had the text issue. I also took the phone back to the store for a new SIM card and had one of the associates try to text me - didn't work. One tec support person claimed they called the manufacturer and was told that the Quickfire was not provisioned to received texts sent while the phone it powered off. Seems ridiculous to me - but I am at a loss of what else to do at this point. Warranty won't help me anymore. I think my only option is switching out for a different phone.
I called the AT & T number today and asked about replacing the phone...I was told the Propel is my only option - as opposed to the other 2 phones I read about in this forum. So, I will be going to the AT & T store tonight with my son to see if the Propel will work.

At this point i am so fed up with the lack of knowledge about the quickfire recall.
I recieved it as a gift for christmas, which is now over 2 months ago.
We paid $315.00 up front for this phone.
i found out yesterday it was being recalled... which is very true.
Today i went to the at&t store and asked about the situation.
The guy said it wasn't at&t's problem and that i had to call the support line for the brand of phone.
He said that it was the first phone at&t bought from this company, which was more than likely to have issues.
I didn't exchnge it in the first month because it was an X-mas gift.
The malfunctions of my phone also progressed the longer i had it.
Also, b/c of the recall you are liable to return it.
At&t is washing their hands of the issue, and is ripping off a {word filter evasion} of people.
Their is 2 phones to pick from, both of much lesser value...Of course!
I am so fed up with the {word filter evasion} and their is nothing i can do except {Do not go around the word filter; thanks} out they guy from the phone company.
I thought the quickfire was going to be the greastest phone ever.
All i got was a bunch of malfunctions and overheating.
Go figure.
Anyone with the same issues?
Frustrated as i am?
Please let me know........

To those of you who have exchanged your Quickfire, what is the proceedure?
You call the number, select what you want and they send it? So you then send them your Quickfire? Do you pay to ship it back?
Thanks!

They send you a new phone then you send the quickfire back. They also pay for shipping.

Is there an Official recall? Why won't a moderator step in and reveal the truth???

It is not a recall, if you talk to a representative they will correct you if you use that term. It is an exchange that only applies to people who would otherwise be able to return the phone (as far as I have experienced). No mods will step in here and representatives will try and get rid of you as fast as they can because At&t does not want to deal with this issue. You have to spend the time listening to the At&t people try and play you until they run out of cons and you get them to really tell you about the exchange. Then only if you "qualify" will they give you a new phone. It's not good enough for new customers but those of us who already have it, they don't care about.
I have never had worse service from any company in my life.

I am not sure that they care for the new customers more, or if it really has to do with the fact that a high percentage of these phones were coming back within the 30 day exchange and it was probably very costly to them. Perhaps they figure that the ones that have been out for a while are the good ones and don't need to be relaced just to replace them? Who knows. My phone, besides the quirks I have mentioned many times before, seems to be one of the good ones and unless something started happening to mine as what I have read here about over heating or the touch screen playing opposites, I plan on keeping it. Especially since I don't think the Propel is an even exchange.

Well I seem to be the minority, I suffered with the phone hoping that I could get used to it or that an update would come out to make it better, not knowing that At&t was pulling it from the shelves and offering the exchange. I talked to a number of representatives and the best they could do for me was turn off my data connection so my phone would stop charging me. When I tried to get an exchange I was treated very poorly by some of the At&t employees that I dealt with. This phone is going in the garbage, mine is that bad. I'm going back to my last phone with a bad impression of At&t as a company. I am going to be looking into other companies when this contract is up, that is how bad my experience has been.
At this point I've resigned myself to the fact that I got screwed by At&t, I just want them to admit it.

rfj71: Was your quickfire within the 30 day warrantee?
They wouldn't exchange mine because it was over 30 days... I know a ton of people who got this phone and we are filing a class action suit against at&t... All I want is a full refund... But at&t doesn't really seem to care... So I will make them care.
I really don't think a full refund is that much to ask for... Especially since the phone was recalled... For safety issues.

Good luck with a lawsuit. Contract cases are incredibly hard to bend.
I know the recall blows, but AT&T has policies-- you can get a refund within 30 days, if you're out of that time period they'll offer you a replacement of the device you currently have or they'll give you an option of other like devices. You agreed to this when you signed a 2 year contract with them. Recall or not, AT&T is unlikely to bend on it's policy and they're not required to since you signed and agreed to the contract terms.
AT&T didn't make you buy the advice. Yes, it was irresponsible for them to sell you something that turned out to be a bad product, but they have a remedy in place and that remedy is replacing your device.

Yes, you do have a point.
But the replacement phones are $100 lesser value than what i paid for the Quickfire.
They aren't even NEW... they are used, refurbished phones.
At&t won't even consider paying the difference.
What sucks is... i went from a Blackberry to a Quickfire...
The BB was 5yrs old and needed to be replaced, so i thought the Quickfire would be... AMAZING.
It did NOT live up to its promises... lol
The eterny general said we have a good chance for a case... and all i want is a refund...
Its not like i am trying to get them to loose a million or anything...
when i purchase a new BB... At&t would get more money out of it anyways.
So i think i will try my luck...
Thank you for the advice alovehangoverr... it you got any more... im all ears.

I'm pretty sure the no contract pricing is $50 cheaper -- but that's not the point. I've actually read of people getting the $50 difference credited to their account, so you may want to consider that route instead of filing a lawsuit.. I'm just saying as someone who is studying business law, there's a really good chance you're not going to get anywhere with it. I guess I just personally don't see the point in putting time/energy/money into something like this when it's a policy you agreed to. While it's unfortunate it's the way it went down, there's a risk you take with every purchase you buy. I knew going in that the Quickfire was a new model and although you'd hope everything is worked out with it and perfect it's very rare for an first model anything to work perfectly.
Also, I realize they're refurbished, but I've owned quite a few refurb phones that have had no scratch marks and absolutely nothing wrong with them [unless they've been Pantech phones, in which case.. worst phone of my life.]
ETA: You would probably be better off trying to get the $50 credit to your account then accepting the Propel/Matrix/Vu [whichever they offer/you choose] and turning around and selling it for what it's going for on ebay or somewhere else. Then you'll get your money back a lot quicker and probably a lot easier than you would pursuing a lawsuit. It's just a suggestion.

To: Hi Hi =]
Because it was "sort-of" recalled for overheating and major touch screen malfunctions.
I have a lot of problems with mine, as they are progressively getting worse.
Shame, cuz i was pumped to have mine for x-mas.
And i didn't return it within the 30days, as i didn't want to seem "ungratefull" to my parents... for spending $315.00 on ONE x-mas gift, especially during these "rough times".
Im also starting to think a lawsuit is not going to be as easy as "here is your refund" kind of thing...
My advice: Don't buy the fist product a company puts out!!! It more than likely WILL HAVE MALFUNCTIONS!!!

I REALLY appreciate your input on this....
and i am really starting to think that it won't be as easy as... "Here's your refund..." kind of thing.
I SHOULD have returned it within the 30 days, but i got it for a x-mas gift from my parents.
Even though i noticed a few annoying malfunctions, i didn't want to seem ungratefull...
I don't think the class action suit will really do anything other than absorb my precious time...
But i have learned a valuable lesson: Don't buy the first product a company puts out... b/c it probably WILL have malfunctions.
I am going to try my luck on the 1-800 #, see if i can get a Vu out of it, (the closest price to it)
and try my luck on ebay... I am deff going back to a Blackberry (best phone i have EVER owned).
----Thanks ![]()

Here's the thing... I paid $50 for my Quickfire. I paid $100 out of pocket with a $50 rebate. I used my phone upgrade at the time.
The Propel is being offered for the exact same amount right now. I fought for the Vu when I called warranty and was denied. I accepted the Propel. For me, it was a fair deal. Sure, I lost the touchscreen, but I gained so much more.
I had the Propel in 2 business days. Got everything off the Quikfire and on the Propel in a few minutes. Shipping was a breeze.
A week into it, I LOVE the Propel SO much more than the Quickfire. I would have never picked out the Propel, but I'm glad I have it.
Quickfire: landscape slider mandated a two-hand grasp
Propel: Portrait slider means I have QUERTY access with one hand grasp
Quickfire: Developer demanded how you use your phone
Propel: With adjustable shortcuts I can get everything I use in one touch
Quickfire: S-l-o-w
Propel: Actually loads webpages at 3G speed
Everything works on the Propel!
No bugs, no locks, no lagging touch screen, no faulty alarms, calendar is the right day AND date
Basically, every gripe I had about the Quickfire works on the Propel
For me, it worked out.
I'll probably still look into the new LGs coming out in May, but for now I'm happy.
