Your email helped and it worked to solve the problem.
To help anyone else. here is what I did.
1. Go into device manager and to modems. double click on the bluetooth modem that was created. Click on the diagnostics tab and query the modem. If it does not work then reset phone. Make sure also that on the phone in USB connection settings that the connection is on PC Studio.
2. after resetting the phone, make sure that you have bluetooth connection and then try the modem query again. If it works then try data pilot and you should connect.
Thank you for the help

I can't even get the program open and running. I downloaded it and I get a FsUsbService64 error. Any idea's?
It was working fine before, then they had an update with the PC studio thing and then it wouldn't ever connect.

I too had the problem where the software came back with the "phone not found" message. Found that I had to do a few things to get it all to work:
- Install the software "MCCI_WHQL_USB_Modem_Driver_4.40.7" (or latest version).
- Install the software "Samsung_NPS.IB5" (or latest version).
- On the Samsung Eternity:
- click on Menu
- click on Settings
- click on Connectivity
- click on Select USB Mode
- click on Samsung PC Studio
- click on Save
- Using the USB cable (make sure it is pushed all the way in on the phone) connect the Phone to the PC
- At this point, the PC should sense the new hardware being connected and load the drivers properly
- If it didn't start automatically, start the Samsung PC Studio software, wait a short while and phone should be detected (icon with Samsung SGH-A867 in the upper right part of the screen)
