Samsung Focus - ALert 03 rings constantly unless Micro USB cord plugged in to phone

The Focus phone started making the Alert 03 noise constantly.  The only way to stop it is to put the phone on silent or to plug in the micro USB cord.  It does not need to be plugged in to the outlet or laptop just into the phone to stop the alert from ringing.  It is the same Alert ring tone that sounds when you plug your micor USB into the phone.  ANyone knwo how to remedy this.

This just started happening on my Focus too. Any solutions ?

Same problem here. I dropped my phone 4 ft (from my hand to the ground) and the top left portion of the screen cracked and spread across the front of the phone. I had an iPhone 3 for 2 years and dropped it at least 100 times from further distances with no problems.

Point is, the only result was the screen cracked but the phone worked fine for 2 weeks. Then one day it started chiming and wouldn't stop. Finally figured out that it would stop if plugged in. This phone is great but it has the worst construction and durability I have seen ever on a phone.

I hate this feeling as well. I got the repeated chime like a month ago and it went away dont remember what i did besides the reset of the phone and taking in out the battery. The repeated chime has started once again yesterday and i figuered it'll go away again had still nothing, I put my phone on silent just so i wouldnt hear the chime it got my phone back up but still had the annoying chime, i tried my friends cord and same thing, so now this has gone to far and i got this phone back in january so i know at&t is gonna say its over the 30day warrenty and arent gonna replace. The melting part hasnt happend yet to my phone.

I had this same problem with my phone. It started happening 3 months after i got the phone. The phone has a one year warranty so i contacted samsung and sent it back to them for repair. they verified the problem and "replaced internal components"...it is hardware issue with the phone. I havent had a single problem since i got it back from them about a month ago. total repair time was 3 days..but the phone was gone closer to eight days because of shipping.

Last week the Samsung Focus that I bought last November suddenly started chiming the sound that you get when you plug in the USB cable. If the phone display was black then it would get lit up when it chimed.. At times I couldn't even power off the phone, as it would turn itself right back on and chime. I called AT&T twice, as the first time the chiming stopped for 20 minutes or so, and they needed the problem to be occurring during the time of the call). The second time they could hear it chime every few seconds, so they sent me a new battery - as they said that it often fixes the problem.

Eight days later I get the battery, put it in and the chiming continues. I charge the battery per the instructions, which took a few hours. I tried unplugging the cable a few times while charging, which caused the chiming to resume. A few times when I did this the phone thought that it was still charging, as indicated by the battery indicator . When the phone indicated that it was fully charged I unplugged the USB cable and it actually acted normal for a while. But that while was just less than an hour, after which it started to chime again.

I called AT&T back and now they are sending me out a refurbished replacement.

I am now on my 3rd samsung focus because of this exact same problem and now it seems i need to ONCE AGAIN return this one in order to be issued yet ANOTHER REFURBISHED phone. This most recent issue happened about 2 days ago i was just sitting on my couch at home and my phone was sitting on the table in front of me when all of a sudden "bleep bleep bleep" "bleep bleep bleep" and my first thought was "YOU HAVE GOT BE {word filter evasion} KIDDING ME, AGAIN"!!! I picked up the phone and it was the exact same problem with the constant chiming that ive had with the last two.

Another problem ive noticed which seems to accompany this one besides the fact that you cant turn it off is that the battery seems to drain from completely full to totally dead within 1 work shift about 8 hrs without any use at all. Im so sick of this {word filter evasion}! And ive only had my service for a year so yes that means by the time ive returned this phone and have the next ill be on MY 4TH PHONE!!

Don't worry.  AT&T says you don't need any of the OS updates.  You'll be fine.

I'm having this same problem. I actually posted a seperate message before I found this thread.

Is there a fix for this, or am I (and we) just screwed?
