Upfront, I want to love this phone. Excellent construction. Even like most of the presentation and navigation with the Windows OS
Here are what is making this phone a deal breaker unless there is resolution:
Can't figure out how to transfer files from PC (think I cannot)
Can't figure out how to load an app directly (think I cannot)
Purposely does a poor job on using gmail or anything Google like translate, etc...
Outlook - does not allow you to continue to accept a certificate the phone cautions about.
Web Outlook - cannot get it past security screen when you do accept the certificate.
These are all things that were no problem with my old Galaxy S, which is seriously ironic because with Touchdown the Outlook issue was a non-issue. And, playing bad with Google is simply in poor taste. Msoft can grow up at any time.

1. windows OS memory is not a usb drive - so you cannot just copy files to it.. it has skydrive app and office apps that you can download files from to the phone... not sure you need much more than that... as for music, zune (soon to be renamed microsoft music or xbox music etc) allows you to sync music via usb OR wirelessly (cool)..
2. you can push an app to the phone from windowsphone.com - really easy... it will either auto install it for you OR send a text message that you click and it installs it --- of course, you can install directly from marketplace on the phone...
3. not sure on gmail -- i have 2 exchange accounts, one office 365 E3 account, one hosted company imap account and a hotmail account all on my phone - awesome --- I cannot see MS doing a bad job with gmail -- just configure for imap and go...
4. regarding cert issue - not sure this is a phone issue - the cert should be fixed, allowing the OS to ignore it on a phone is a bad idea... (but i can understand your frustration if the cert isnt being fixed)
5. web outlook -- why? the exchange setup just uses the OWA urls etc - set it up and forget about web outlook....

First off, these are all issues with Windows Phone 7, they are the same on every phone
1) Zune - if you can drag and drop a file (any Office file, pdfs, music, movies) onto the device icon in Zune then it is copied onto the device - kinda like iOS (apple) and iTunes
2) use the Market, or become a developer for $99 if you want to side-load apps not approved in the market. Kinda like iOS.
3) Google stuff - well, obviously MICROSOFT isn't going to do google's job - but google is welcome to write versions of their apps for WP7. Just lke they did for iOS.
4) My home IMAP server uses a valid self-signed cert. The phone asked me once to accept it, it works fine - for EXCHANGE you must have a valid cert. This, as they say, is a security risk, otherwise.
5) OWA should be mapped in as a exchange account to email, where (assuming you have a valid cert) it works fine.
Don't expect WP7 to be Android. It's not. You'll be happier. Or, if you want Android, get an Android phone.

1. On one, there are many instances where you do not want SkyDrive. Or, custom .NET apps that do interesting things are a no-go.
2. see one.
4. Cert issue is a PHONE issue because you should have the option to accept. Just because you don't want to pay for certs doesn't mean you shouldn't get an acceptance choice like every other everything lets you do.
5. You think web outlook when (see 4). But, ironically, it doesn't work so not-so-good on Msoft when their own stuff doesn't work together.
I know really like about 85% of this phone. The app and file restrictions are probably having me return this.
Also, camera is not so hot. And, I miss Swype.
EDIT: Also seems to have a hard time with some JS. So, my cool building automation web page locks up.
This works fine in regular desktop IE, Firefox, Chrome, Apple everything.... whatever.
