Yep, for 7.8, which is NOT out yet. This is the buzz around Tango, which is releasing in small dribs and drabs.

I have 2 Samsung Focus S phones. They both plug in to sync music with Zune regularly. One has been updated now but the other shows no updates. Wierd since they are on the same account.
Started the day on 7.10.7720
updated to .7740
then 8107.79
then 8112.7
then 8773.98
plus a Samsung update
Firmware 2103.12.05.2
Radio Software Version 2103.12.5.2
Bootloader 6.5.16.0
I didnt mention the lines that did not change.
I am guessing the 7.8 update will be the 8779 version I keep seeing popup on WP Bench. Cant wait!
Update: Only 1 of my Focus S have received the update but was notified via Zune on 6/28/12. We will apparently not receive a notification without plugging into Zune so keep pluggin in! Ill keep checking for my second phone to update.
No rhyme or reason to their rollout strategy. It will be nice to have them both up to Tango so that we can get OTA for 7.8!!

I spoke with the HTC Folks. The gal I spoke to said it should be pushing out.....
The folks on WP Central said they installed it manually and is working perfectly on thier Titan II.
Nothing yet. ARG!!!
Its also said the "Mango Force Trick" we all used is said to work on Tango as well.
Tried it a few time with no luck.

I updated my Focus S with the "wifi trick" this weekend. I guess that prevents the block signal getting thru from AT&T? Anyway, a few MS updates plus a Samsung update and I am Tango'd. Thanks so much again AT&T for making my decision to switch carriers at the end of this contract so much easier. Premier Carrier my {word filter evasion}...

Hello everyone. I live in Grand Rapids MI and I have a Samsung Focus S. I am updating my phone as I type this (on my other pc of course). I did not force my update. I plugged into Zune and it notified me on its own. Yes it is (8112) Tango.
Long story short, be patient. ATT is pushing this update apparently. [Per Guidelines: Keep it Relevant and Appropriate]. Just remember ATT seams to be doing their part.
Good luck to everyone and cheers!!!! ![]()

I have just updated my Focus S to Tango following the instructions on the WPcentral website. But I failed to update my older Samsung Focus. It seems there are still no Tango for it.

Samsung Firmware Update
YAY!!!
Was waiting for the keyboard fix for a long time, finally.
Cheers,

Hey folks,
So surprising that my Samsung Focus (1gen) got the 8112/8773 Tango update right now when I am using wifi-disable trick. My phone is AT&T carrier, however, I can't get those updates yesterday. But I remember I have downloaded the "Samsung registry" xda to change carrier Rogger CA before. And using the same method to got the Mango update last year. So I did the same thing again. When my phone connects to Zune and disable the wifi, I receive the notice for Tango update now.
bingo!

What did AT&T push the update to the first 100 WP owners they saw? Haven't heard of anyone else getting the update pushed to them. Oh, AT&T mentions the LG Quantum for update and guess what me nor any other Quantum owner I know has gotten.

Got an Email Responce from the folks at HTC today. (Finally)
This is the email from HTC:
I will gladly address your enquiry today. When the update is available for your phone, you will receive the notification directly on the device. The updates are sent out in a staggered manner and we are unable to adjust that process (For example, I am currently still on 8107 with my Titan) and not all updates show on the Microsoft website are available for all carrier branded phones.
Tap Tap Tap<----- Fingers. Really?????? really. Gosh thangs for telling me something I already know.
We'll mark that up as a "FAIL"

Her Titan is on 8107, CLEARLY she isn't on AT&T. But yah, this is just one example why HTC is going down the tubes. I used to push HTC to everyone looking for a phone and have personally purchased more than a dozen HTC devices at full, unsubsidized prices. I'll never buy another. If you want a quality device and good support, go Nokia.

This is just plain stupid. The rest of the planet is upgrading to Tango 8773 and my HTC Surround is still at 7720. My 2 year contract ends 3/13. Why would I buy another device from AT&T if they can't support what they sell? Excuses are for the inept. The primary factor here here seems to be penny pinching. I have been an Snet Wireless/Cingular/AT&T customer since 1999 and I am seriously reconsidering my position. We have 4 lines on our account. You do the math.

What's stupid is, their refusal to even acknowledge the update or discuss it publicly. Oh, and the fact that they are pushing Android updates very regularly is an insult. I'd love to see them try telling the Android and iOS customers "Um... we're not going to give you this update but we MAY give you the next update which will cover all of the new features from the LAST 4 we didn't give you.
Again, AT&T deserves any and all bad criticism they receive. Come Windows Phone 8, I will be switcing to T-Mobile.

Simple. Incompetence.
Oh, and a complete lack of giving a crap if their customers are happy.

The only Android phones that actually get updated are the Nexus line because Google makes it. Other than the Nexus line, maybe 1 or 2 android phones may get updated by some miracle. iPhones get updates because Apple bypasses carriers. Microsoft will begin bypassing carriers starting with the WP7.8 update.
Also, "AT&T" is actually Cingular. Cingular's parent company SBC bought AT&T and they changed their name to AT&T. The only thing that is making AT&T's service crap is their CEO Randall Stephenson. He is the person who started all of this limited data crap and claiming that bandwidth is limited. He just refuses to spend money to upgrade and increase capacity of their wireless and landline services. He is also on video publicly saying that having to invest money in AT&T's network to provide good service keeps him up at night. He hates unlimited data users because of all of the money they force him to spend.
To everybody with unlimited data, use as much data as you can. Make AT&T's towers burn from being overloaded from use and force them to spend a lot of money.
LTE is a GSM technology and Verizon has it but their 3g/2g/1g networks are CDMA so if you go outside of a LTE coverage area, you will have no service. If Verizon sticks to GSM with 5g and begins to get good phones then I am going to leave AT&T. I am already extremely satisfied with my perfectly flawless Verizon FiOS service and I have no problem adding wireless to have everything under Verizon. Also, Verizon releases updates for their windows phone not long after Microsoft releases updates.

2 points,
1. The Nexus One stopped receiving support before 12 months. I regretted that purchase almost immediately.
2. Don't be mistaken, this is the AT&T of old we're experiencing. I was a Cingular customer and had great service and great customer support. At that time, AT&T was rated the WORST in support and service. Since the buyout, I've had nothing but issues with both.
But you're right about Randy. He's a profiterring dolt. He has been very public about his desire to screw over customers to make the company a penny more here and there. His idiocracy has filtered through the entire company and we are witnissing it here on this forum. Where are the proactive updates on future updates? Where are the answers to all of the questions?
Since I know AT&T mopes read these to censor us, nothing would make me happier then to see their entire call center outsourced and the in-house "talent" lose their jobs. They aren't doing their jobs anyway so why keep them?

AT&T is Cingular, dude! Cingular bought out AT&T, then took the name for themselves.
