Yeah the "Office of the President" of AT&T told me '7720' was the latest update after my BBB complaint. That T-mobile thing must be fake. And Microsoft's website.

This just keeps getting better and better. I got another call from the office of the President in response to my answer to the BBB.
I told the BBB that AT&T response was totally Unacceptable and irresponsible.
Do today out AT&T all star Darren told me they have no way to transmit the update over the air Holding back laughter I told him it comes thru ZUNE to which he responded they don't know any thing about that.
When I told him T-Mobile were pushing out the updates now he just said OH.

Here is the latest.
As stated in your inquiry the 8107 (7.10.8107.79) update has not been made available for the AT&T LG Windows Phone in the U.S. Our engineering team has developed a fix and it has been delivered to our carrier partners. We are not able to speak for the carriers; however, we have made the update available and they are currently assessing it. We are unable to provide any dates or timeframes for the update release and it is up to the carrier to determine if they want to provide the update to their users.
I am very sorry we were not able to provide you with the outcome you were seeking. You are a valued customer and we look forward to providing you with a more positive experience should you require assistance in the future.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any additional questions as it relates to this case by selecting "reply all" to this message and I will be more than happy to assist.
Kind Regards,
~Bridgette

If you look at my profile picture you'll notice I am with AT&T and am currently running the 8107 update, and have been for about 2 weeks. I will not go into more details than previously but just wanted to show that AT&T phones ARE capable of receving the 7740 and 8107 updates but refuse to release them.

Ok, as a guest I cannot browse my computer for an avatar, but if you go to my profile there are two pictures of my phone that prove AT&T phone are capable and ready for this update. As I said I have been ruuning 8107 for about two weeks on my AT&T Focus Flash.

Guys, no one here are questioning the fact taht our first and second gen Windows Phone are perfectly capable of running 8107 update. The problem is AT&T not officially releasing and thus supporting these phones. Most if not all of us aware of a way or two on how to get the update on our own. SO your repeated messages about you being able to run 8107 update on your phone helps a little to the topic we are discussing.

More pertinent questions are;
* Why aren't ATT supporting the warranty perriod for phones like the Samsung Focus by approving and deploying bug-fix updates like 8107?
* Why have they basically EOL (end-of-lifed) the Samsung Focus, also preventing updates for features like Internet Sharing/Tethering (which the Samsung Omnia 7 Gen1 device received)?
* Why do ATT refuse to treat their US customers, as a premiere launch partner with MS for Windows Phone - with basic respect and decency by being honest on their position of updates for Gen1 devices?
* What makes ATT feel they can do what they are now, when carriers all over the world have approved and deployed key updates such as Tethering and 8107 weeks or months ago?
* What does ATT stand to gain by the stance they are taking on WP7 updates for Gen1 devices? Are we to assume from their public actions (or lack thereof) that they have put the commerical interest of selling new devices ahead of existing customers - and have treated the latter with contempt and arrogance.
* Where is the independant Carrier regulator in the US and why has this situation not been raised with them if they exist (like they do here in Australia)?
* Are any WP7 ATT customers shareholders, and if so - have you considered attending an ATT AGM or 1/2 yearly results public shareholder meeting (if held in the US) to raise questions and make them accountable for their actions?
And that's before we even touch on the unsatisfactory "soft" response from Microsoft US form a page or so back.
Organise, Vocalise and Lobby/Take action !!!!
Good luck.
Sheeds.

So, if we are to believe AT&T ...
Microsoft delivered the updates to AT&T, but AT&T lost them, that's why they don't know about them ...

AT&T seems to have some doubts about 8107. Just trying to help them see the light...

This is beyond frustrating. The vanishing keyboard makes using our touchscreen only devices a chore.
I'm on the phone with AT&T Technical Support and they act like they've never heard of this bug or that the 8107 update even exists. I've been on the phone almost 45 minutes now (mostly on hold) while they ask a lot of people about it and are now sending a report to their "ICU" team that is supposed to get back to me within 24-48 hours with some kind of answer. I've said that I **need** this fixed or I'd like a credit to cover a different phone without my paying nor extending my contract.
This update has been rolling since January and it's almost April and I think AT&T is the last carrier with outdated software. I hope they can get this resolved. I emplore anyone with this problem to call AT&T technical support and make sure that they know that we are all suffering and demand resolution.
Thanks,
Jeff

I got some news about the Windows Phone 8107 update and wanted to share it with you all.
We are not currently planning to offer the Windows 8107 update.
I don’t have any additional information right now. If and when I get details, I will update the thread.

As I understood the deal with MS, you are not allowed to let users fall more than 1 update behind.

That is correct. And 8107 is two updates we've miss so far (unless you've taken rash steps as I have because the disappearing keyboard was getting on my nerves)...

So yea. You will update us with details about why your company is leaving us in the cold? I just bought this phone and I won't get an update? I might take it right back so you can have a "refurb" to sell, and I can find a carrier that supports its customers.
Does this also mean we have no hope of seeing wp8? The tango and apollo updates that are supposed to be in the works?

UPDATE:
Microsoft backed out of the promise to keep its users current it seems:
http://www.winsupersite.com/article/windowsphone75
AT&T and others were apparently too embaressed by MANGO so they forced a change and Microsoft caved.
Looks like I'll be abandoning Microsoft and AT&T (or switch back to the hardware maker that can still tell AT&T what to do) at my first opportunity barring some miracle.

The latest "news" that at&t will not be offering the 8107 update is the last straw. I believe it's time to seek some legal advice to determine if this isn't in violation of the user agreement thus avoiding early termination fees....at&t certainly hasn't even come close to holding up their end of the agreement. I am counting the seconds until my contract expires....hopefully it will be even earlier!

Amen to that!! The only reason I can think that MS leaves it up to the carriers is because of the different phone OEMS, and possibly, by placing the burden on the carriers end, they can ensure the updates work across all the different models of phone. Still, it would have been better to get our updates straight from the source I think.

You lighten up, maybe your phone is working perfect, but I have serious issues with my Focus S thats only a few months old. Like the dissapearing keyboard. How about everytime you go to type on your phone, the keyboard goes away and does not come back?? Would you still just say, "Eh... I can make calls.. " If I just wanted to make phone calls I would still be using a feature phone!!

I am SORELY disappointed! You carriers take our money, give us devices that are heavily subsidized, then never support them to maximize profits!
Here's the deal. If you guys don't want to mess with the update, then quit restricting it and just let Microsoft deliver it like Apple does with the iPhone. It's that simple. Quit selling your smartphone users devices then abandoning us! It's ridiculous and we're tired of it!
AT&T doesn't want WP7 to succeed. It's all about iPhone and Android and the latter gets the same treatment but their devices can be more easily hacked.
Other WP7 users, e-mail the Windows Phone blog site, address below. Ask for more information about whom to speak with to help us. We must band together if we wish the platform to succeed and to get the updates we deserve.

I agree about being vocal. I have written to a couple WP blogs as well as a couple of technical folks that cover MS and also a couple of folks at MS. I have asked ATTCustomerCare for an explanation as to why 8107 will not be offered to which I'm certain I will not hear.
