I still don't see where you got a summer release date from. I see no date mentioned in that article:
****
Stacey , a spokeswoman for AT&T, told us this morning "AT&T plans for a Windows Phone update that will contain the improvements in the 8107 update and more" with no commitment to a time-frame.

This is pitiful. Other carriers rolled up all of the updates since 7720 ongoing and AT&T has decided to continue to pass on them until some magical release in the future. Why not wait for Apollo or even WP10? Talk about lazy and inconsiderate of customers. It's almost as if AT&T is purposely trying to kill the Windows Phone platform. No wonder Apple took the power away from them and distribute updates whether AT&T likes it or not.
Luckily, XDA has all the updates to bring phones to the current OS so we don't have to wait around for over a year for AT&T to remember they have customers that are depending on them.
God, I hate this company...

Agreed
More open communication is always good and getting the 8107 fixes with some future update is better than nothing.
But letting customers live with bugs that were fixed months ago is HORRIBLE customer service, especially considering that the rationale is that it takes too much effort to roll out the update (claiming it requires coordinating with a firmware update).
A "premier partner" would have put in the effort to make the update available beginning when it was released by Microsoft. A barely mediocre partner would decide to skip the update and only mention it a few months later when pressured.
Possibly the worst company in America

Not a "company". I would call it a classic example of a monopoly that is free to do what it wants like it was before many years ago when the government broke it up to several phone companies.

Pretty close. AT&T is actually the #3. Facebook was #1 ... Hard to believe a phone company can be worse than Goldman Sachs given what has occurred in the past 4 years ...

Some time back today I got a call from AT&T about my last months complaint (complained on twitter, and got a call that time epxressing surprise about keyboard), and he said that "Micorost is working with AT&T to develope a fix to keyboard issue, and within few weeks we should have the fix delivered to your Titan". I was like {word filter evasion}, but atleast they are now saying they will fix it.

I was thinking today ...
Sprint inked a deal with Apple to sell $20,000,000,000 worth of iPhones, right? Although I suspect (from what I have read about price of an iPhone to the carrier) they make very little profit from the sale of an iPhone, how are they possibly going to reach that number? Well, I suppose if they could "restrict" updates that would be one way ... alas ... not possible with Apple ..
However ... perhaps our friendly carriers have inked deals with other phone manufacturers to sell a "quota". If those phones are Windows or Android ... welll ... you do the math ...
I just don't see the sale of phones as a money maker for the carriers. I would think they would be more profitable making me pay $50/month on a out of contract phone vs paying $50/month on a in contract phone in which they still have recover the subsidy ...

While it is nice to know that AT&T is planning an update sometime in the future, I am still unhappy that AT&T refuses to help out people who are having problems with their phones now. I mean, would iPhones be allowed to have a problem as serious as a vanishing keyboard for as long as we Windows Phone users have had to suffer with it? It is doubly frustrating because the fix was made available months ago by Microsoft, but AT&T refuses to push it out. And I know that AT&T is capable of pushing out an update quickly; just look at how quickly the Nokia patches are going out the door!
So the morale of the story is that you are at the back of the bus unless you have a Lumina or an iPhone...

It appears that those that bought the Lumia 900 will NOT get upgraded to Windows 8 (Apollo) if you can believe the report. The fact that I don't dismiss it out of hand speaks poorly of Microsoft and AT&T.
http://mashable.com/2012/04/18/lumia-apollo/
Both AT&T and Microsoft are doing their best to kill the OS it would seem ...

I am in agreement with everyone here complaining about how AT&T is not releasing the 8107 Update, and is instead likely to release the Tango update, but this whole getting upset over a non-announced product from MS (Windows Phone 8, aka Apollo) has got to stop. Honestly, MS hasn't even announced their plans, let alone it's RTM. They have spoken about Windows Phone 7.5 App Compatibility with Windows Phone 8, but that's it.
Also, I'm not defending AT&T here, I'm just saying to calm down about the whole rumor mill surrounding Windows Phone 8.

AT&T Mobility (AT&T) Office of the President investigated the above referenced customer's concerns to the BBB and appreciates the opportunity to respond. Specifically, Mr. X states he does not have the issue with his new device (lumia 900 which the specialist completely misread the original complaint which had nothing to do with this phone); however, he does not agree with the fact that AT&T is not releasing the updates on the windows 7 devices as quickly as his friends (words in my mouth I never said anything about friends with WP7 devices I only spoke about other carriers) with other carriers are getting theirs. He will not allow the agencies to close his cases and he will begin blogging to let other windows 7 customers know that by filing cases with the agencies they can get AT&T to finally step up and do what is right by their customers.
On April 27, 2012, Specialist X, an AT&T Office of the President Specialist spoke with Mr. X regarding his wireless concerns. After careful review of the account, (the specialist is lying) the Specialist found that AT&T works with the device manufactures in order to ensure that all new software updates perform on the AT&T system, at the level that AT&T requires for the optimal customer experience, prior to being released. Although the Specialist addressed all of the concerns indicated on Mr. X's complaint, he remains dissatisfied. (The specialist did not address the concerns but instead made excuses.)
AT&T regrets any inconvenience caused by this matter. We trust this letter addresses your concerns regarding this complaint.
I also had to send a link to the specialist for this forum, because the OOP was clueless/does not care about the issue/s!
BBB closed the complaint before contacting me to see if I was satisfied!
I have until then end of this week to get a refund for my Lumia 900 which will suffer the same problem with updates in the future. I am also cancelling service with AT&T.

I just sent an e-mail to "e-mail the editor" at the Windows Phone Blog under "Have a Story Idea". The content of my e-mail are below.
__________________________________________________
Subject: No update for WP7 Update 7.10.8107.79 on AT&T
Phone: Samsung Focus S
OS version 7.10.7720.68
Frankly, I don’t feel that AT&T or Microsoft care. I love the phone, however, with the current issues, and lack of support, this will most likely be my last windows phone.
Best regards,

The above e-mail will not generate a response, however, should enough people send a similar message to the same address, this might help. Based on the number of posting within this string, another approach might work. I will update this message in the event I receive a response from Microsoft. The e-mail I used was as follows: wpblog@live.com

Leeza: Hello, Bruce.
Leeza: Yes, please.
Flex : I have avidly been following the WIndows Phone platform and was ready to make the switch
Leeza: Okay.
Flex : However, I think Microsoft needs to clearly understand that AT&T is doing them GREAT harm by not releasing patches
Flex : I WILL not adopt a platform that a mobile carrier will not keep patched
Flex : You should go read the AT&T wireless forums on the WIndows OS platform
Flex: 31 pages and growing of anger about AT&T
Flex : I am not blaming MS, I bet their hands are tied by AT&T
Flex : but, I really have concern for WIndows Phones in the US if AT&T is the sole provider of the OS
Leeza: Okay.
Flex: I finally gave up and and went and bought another Android ..
Flex : at least I know that the community is large enough that I can root it and install a custom ROM
Flex : I don't feel that MS or Nokia is taking this seriously enough

I filed with BBB on Friday. I want discount service backdated to January when Microsoft made the fix available and I want a phone that has the upgraded OS (Titan2 or Lumia 900) and I want no extension of my contract. AT&T rep told me that they needed to "test" updates on the network to ensure a positive experience. Two questions: 1. If you do so much testing, why didn't you find the vanishing keyboard bug and let Microsoft know about it BEFORE Mango released? 2. Apparently, it's OK on your network since the Titan 2 and Lumia 900 are both running it, right? The answer = they wanted us to buy new phones as the official "fix".

Well, 8107 was pushed out by Verizon in April. Considering our phones haven't had an update since 7720, this clearly isn't an issue of testing. And as pointed out by others, their newer phones are already running versions LATER than 8107 (my buddy just got a Titan II with 8112) so clearly testing is a moot point. This is simply another example of AT&T having horrible customer support and are purposely trying to force people to buy new hardware.
Hey AT&T, I'll buy new hardware WITH ANOTHER CARRIER.
I manually updated my phone to 8107 via the method on XDA (google update cab sender). I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB for their business practices. I knew when AT&T took over Cingular it was going to suck but I never anticipated it would suck this much.

Almost two months later and still no update, not even a date when the update will be out. Even Verizon got this out to everyone! I tried going through the Office of the President with AT&T, and even that went nowhere. They instead offered me a discount on a different phone. If I wanted an android or iphone, I would have bought one.
I've had enough, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Next I'm contacting my state's attorney general, and the federal trade commission.
Everyone at AT&T that's even remotely associated with this ignorance, or has knowledge of it and doesn't question why it's happening...... you should be ashamed of yourself.....

@joe,
We have been told numerous times that ATT is waiting for the Tango update to drop which should be some time this month. If you do some digging online, you can find that info pretty easily. Tango is already being put on other carriers' phones(such as the 710 on Rogers in Canada) so be patient, its coming. My lord, everyone is complaining over a mild inconvienence when if you went with any other device, it would have worse bugs and/or an old, outdated OS. Sprint has also not released the update and the 710 on Tmobile has yet to receive it as well. So its not only ATT !! Maybe Im in the minority but I love my Focus S and I love my service(fast 4g speeds, always have signal, etc) so waiting a few months for an update is WELL WORTH IT to me.

Windows Phone is the best smartphone, but the AT&T needs to handle the updates with a little more attention. As well as the Nokia does.
My Lumia 900 is up to date. (Zune)
My Focus S is up to date. (cab sender)

My Titan is up to date (about 10 minutes of effort on my part, searching the web and installing the update from the PC)
It's really not that hard to do this, if you need the update that bad.
