Do plan changes extend contract?

Hi, Everyone!  Can someone please tell me, will my contract be extended if I change my calling plan?  On a family plan, aren't all the lines extended?  And also, (if changing the plan does extend the contract), if I'm eligible for upgrades, but only make plan changes, do I lose the option for upgrading the equipment, or can I still upgrade my phone when we decide to?

If you are simply moving up or down in minutes, or adding deleting features, no........    If you are changing the type of plan, then yes, your 2yr agreement starts over.

going individual -> family causes a new 2 year agreement? even if both lines already exist?

I believe so because once you go to Family you get one account number instead of two. But I can't remember how it worked when my hubby and I went to a Family plan.

i think that's more a transfer of liability. what i'm interested in is what would happen to two individual lines that are already under a single account number - i probably should have been more specific. thanks though!
