When WM6 upgrade comes out, as long as I have all my contacts backed up using Activesync I should be okay right? I don't have any third-party apps.

No, shouldnt need any other apps. Just Sync your PDA prior to Patching. that way once your upgraded, you can re-sync and all your contact email etc. will return. also if you have any files on system memory id sync those as well.

I would encourage everyone that has a problem with either the updates for the Treo, Blackjack or the 8525 to visit the following link and lodge a complaint that will be recorded and hopeful express the anger of the consumer that was dupped into buying a phone with the promise of an upgrade that never happened (as of yet)!

Question - at the following link: http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/phones-devices/pda-windows-mobile.jsp, an apparent distinction is made between the AT&T 8525 Windows Mobile 5.0 (touch screen) and "Are you an existing Cingular 8500/8525 customer" with respect the updates that might be available. If I have a Cingular branded 8525 (purchased from Cingular in March 2007) is there any reason to suspect that the much-anticipated WM6 upgrade will not be valid for my device?

Just to feed the frenzy... I did a search on AT&T's "Answer Center" (which actually points to a Cingular URL still) for WM6, and found this Q&A:

FACT:

Error: "page cannot be displayed" on the Samsung Blackjack with Windows Mobile 6

Unable to Access HTML with the Samsung Blackjack with Windows Mobile 6
Browser freezes, stops responding, or responds slowly

FIX:

Verify the device is on.
Verify the device has at least two bars of signal strength in the upper right hand corner of the display. If not, move to a different location where the device does get at least two bars of signal strength.
Perform a soft reset.
Attempt to connect.
Determine if the GPRS network is available.
Verify the browser and APN settings.
Enter a URL such as www.google.com.
If unable to access this site, please contact AT&T Customer Service for wireless customers.

So it seems you can't get it, but you can troubleshoot it if you have it...

That part is for the cingular customers to update to the AT&T logos and some added features. I can almost bet that once WM6 comes out that section will go away since WM6 will have the updated icons and features as well.

I have checked the normal spots and I don't see anything. I would chalk it up to newbie making an uninformed post. We should not get into a frenzy over nothing. Didn't Sentry say he would post here if anything came up?

Of course. I upgraded to the April ROM which is AT&T branded, so there was my clue. Just wanted to prepare myself in case the WM6 materialzes and my device was unqualified. Silly me.

It isn't available yet, but when it becomes available, it is likely that it will appear here.

For those interested in the HTC 8525's download site, you can find it here. And those interested in the Palm Treo 750's site can find it here. There may be an option to setup an RSS feed, so for those interested in subscribing to a notification system, check it out.

Although these might be the physical locations of the download, the formal launch locations, as well as the launch dates, have yet to be announced.

That's exactly what I've thought all along. Also, if AT&T suddenly decided to not have these forums anymore, there are plenty of user-friendly forums where AT&T in general and this forum in particular are being discussed.

For those of you who have followed my posts, I have an update on my information. The 8525 and the Treo 750 should have a commercially released update tomorrow(10/30), but at this time, there is no updated information for the blackjack. My prediction is still mid to late November for the blackjack. Don't hold this as written in stone, but I did want to pass this along.

I'm going to assume, at this point, my information was inaccurate. I apologize for all the hopes I may have gotten up. I'm still hoping to see something before the end of the day, however, "commercially released" may mean something entirely different then what we assume.

Is there any sense of how many of us there are hawking on this release? Are we in the tens of thousands or maybe just the low hundreds? I'd imagine - that from AT&T's perspective - perhaps there just aren't enough of us to bother trying real hard (on the feedback side anyway).

I am just as angry as the next guy about having wm6 delayed. They moved us all into this forum just like how we move criminals into prisons so no one can see how At&t is ~~scre~~....oppressing us. You also have to register to see this thread so they shield it from other customers that are afraid of filling out forms to become a member. {edited- please read the first post in this thread} BTW it works spectacularly and having the faster internet...oh soo good. All we want is some freaking info about something the WHOLE world has already. I just wish there was some way of getting the AT&T techs and the palm tech on the same chat or phone call to see if they will still finger point (Probably will). /rant

I spoke to a guy in Level 2 Customer Service last week. He says that they don't even have a date. He also mentioned that the owners of the Treo are irrate since theirs has been delayed for over 3 months now.

*Do y'all think that the WM6 update for the 8525 will also have a new radio revision?
