BTW the "new release" found elsewhere on forums has definitely taken the sails out of many of us... it seems to work fairly well but an official release is always nice too...

One hundred eighteen pages of posts -- mostly opinions and hearsay on when the WM6 ROM will be released -- seem to say otherwise.

Looks like another version Windows Mobile 6 is out for the BlackJack, just not the offical version.

As the story seems to go, someone purchased a BlackJack from eBay, WM6 was preinstalled & its appears to be from a Microsoft corp employee phone.

Others have figured out how the grabbed the ROM from the phone & make the upgrade available... you just cannot get it from AT&T for whatever reason...

Who knows when it will be offical

I agree. Why would they release WM6 now for BJ 1 now and cut down their sales of BJ2 when released.

In fact I'll go even further to say I believe BJ2 is the only BlackJack that will ever see WM6. Mark my words.

It will be released because the ROM is ready howbeit it won't go public until ATT sees fit wise marketing and sales strategy. It would be a waste to not give it away and extend the product life of BJ. Furthermore capping customer exodus becomes a higher priority as first batches of BJ 2 year contracts are set to expire in 2008. Many will naturally move to BJ II or other WM6 devices but some will stay with BJ for whatever reason and will want to upgrade to WM6.

well,blackjack 2 is coming out this month as per a att sales person. so,paid attention on sunday as it might be coming out,or maybe black friday weekend. as for the rom,i dont really care if it comes out or not.

Umm... no that's Windows CE 6.0 R2 ... not WM7... basically like they did with Server 2003 and made an R2.

Doubtful you'd see any phones on WM6 R2 (at least advertised public)

Pardon me... WM6 is based on Windows CE 5.0 version 5.2. Make sense? Maybe not.
So is "WM6.5" or SE or v2 or whatnot based on WINCE 5.0 version 5.x, or some version of WINCE 6?

The OS (Photon) being released tentatively on Dec 31 is based on WINCE6. Wikipedia has some info on the Windows Mobile page, with supposedly a link to an engadget article (footnote 26) of an SGH-i600 (Euro Blackjack) running some MS prerelease of Photon.

WinCE 5.2 also does not equal WM5.2. WM6 is based on WinCE 5.2, and WM6 was codenamed Crossbow.

STK is the most amazing application for the blackjack ever. It gives you a windows like start menu that looks awesome. It is fully customizable. It has a geat feature that lets you easily switch betwenn apps and take screen shots of your phone. I recommend it 10000000%. Go for it!

wow renone do you realize you didn't need wm6 to do that to your homescreen? Also the f1 radio and phone installation is not required, i did mine over a stock phone and radio.
