I am an iPhone user with a grandfathered unlimited data plan, which costs me $30 a month.
All this news lately about AT&T throttling unlimited customers who exceed 3 GB got me thinking.
You currently offer a limited 3 GB plan for the same price I am paying now. It is clear you would like to move all your unlimited customers over to a limited plan. I know this won't work for some users but for me, I don't think I have ever used close to 3GB in a month. But I don't want to give my unlimited plan.
One incentive I would seriously consider is if you would start to allow mobile hotspot tethering at no charge on the limited plans. If I could get 3 GB with mobile hotspot for $30 a month I would probably switch over.
Even better would be a $40 4GB plan. Right now I have to spend at least $50 to get tethering and I just don't want to add that additional $20 to my bill.
I just think an actual incentive to switch to a limited plan, rather than a punishment would get you more results.

Problem is tethering was never allowed on the unliited plan even when it was available - and now that is it discontinued the chances of any changes are slim to none, doubt you will see this happen at all

Highly doubt Verizon is offering free tethering
Actually they are, but the data cap, pricing is ludicrous and it is Ipad 3 only, since the 3 is the only one that does 4G. Technically the comparision is invalid becuase of the limitations
1GB for 20.00
2GB for 30.00
5GB for 50.00
and you get hotspot. People already blow through their caps as it is, now add tetheting, especially on the 1GB plan and you have abojt 40 minutes of use before you are being charged extra. The highest priced plan is exactly the same price as ATT's plan w/ tethering so ther is no comparision needed. Personally would rather pay 30.00 for 3GB w/o tethering then 30.00 for 2GB with tethering.
