Very cool. My usage won't hit the levels necessary to take advantage of it but still......

Here is at&t's press release:
http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=4800&cdvn=ne
AT&T Customers Enjoy Unlimited Calling to Their A-List
New Feature for Qualifying Plans Offers Unlimited Calling to Domestic Phone Numbers, Combined with Rollover Lets Users Keep the Minutes They Save
Dallas, Texas, September 9, 2009
Let the good times roll. With AT&T A-List with Rollover, customers can do just that—with unlimited mobile calling to and from five “VIP” domestic phone numbers at no additional cost. Families can join in the savings too with unlimited calling to up to 10 lines with FamilyTalk. And only AT&T lets you keep the minutes you save with Rollover. When A-List premieres on Sept. 20, customers can manage their A-List exclusively online at www.att.com/alist.
“This is an incredible value for many of our customers that essentially lets them ‘double dip’,” said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “Not only will they not use minutes from their monthly plan when they call their A-List numbers, but our unique Rollover feature means they can keep those minutes for use in future months. Nobody else is going this far in letting customers stretch their minutes. Others may let you save minutes, but only AT&T lets you keep them.”
Customers with individual Nation plans of $59.99 or higher can use A-List with Rollover to select up to five domestic phone numbers to call anytime --including landlines and wireless numbers on any network-- without using any of the minutes in their plan.
FamilyTalk customers with plans of $89.99 or more can select up to ten numbers which any person in the FamilyTalk plan can call as much as they want.
Adding and modifying phone numbers on A-List with Rollover is easy. Customers can use the online account management tool available at www.att.com/alist. Numbers can be changed anytime, though customers should allow 24 hours for the changes to take effect on their account. Any online changes will result in an email confirmation for security purposes. Instructions available at http://www.att.com/Common/merger/files/pdf/choice/
A-List: Numbers must be entered online at MyWireless Account at att.com/wireless.com. Only standard domestic landline or wireless numbers are eligible. For additional terms see http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/leg

"FamilyTalk customers with plans of $89.99 or more can select up to ten numbers which any person in the FamilyTalk plan can call as much as they want."
So does this mean if I'm not spending at least $89.99 on my Family plan, I don't get to use A-List? If so, that's not cool. If I could afford 1400 minutes every month (what you get for $89.99), I wouldn't NEED to add anyone to any A-List because I would have plenty of minutes.

If your individual plan is 900+ minutes ($59.99 or over) per month, or your FamilyTalk plan is 1400+ minutes ($89.99 or over) per month, you'll be ready to add your A-List on September 20!
This is copied from here
Makes it seem like smaller family plans are excluded (THose below 89.99/1400 minutes)

I have the 1400 minutes and I get rollover every month. I don't go over the 1400 but I go over the 700 easily. I will try and use teh a-list since it will be offered. Hopefully I do get a use from it. I'm excited they will be offering it

It's a shame that they don't make it available for everyone.
Does anyone know if other companies who offer similar options like this have the same type stipulations?

That is my wife's situation. She qualifies for the lowest level plan. If I was there, I would not qualify.

I just checked T-Mobile's site and the lowest they offer it for is a 400 minute plan for $69.99/month. I compared it with their regular plans and they seem to be charging $20 extra a month for the MyFave feature.
The 700 minute regular plan is $59.99, but if you want the MyFave feature it'll cost you $79.99 for 700 minutes.
I'd be okay paying another $20 a month more to get the A-List feature. That's still cheaper for me than having to bump up to a $89.99 plan!

This service would most benefit people who are in a situation I was in 5 years ago, when I had Sprint and my entire family was on AT&T - like extra free Mobile to Mobile numbers.
I currently have FamilyTalk 1400, and the 5 of us hardly use all the minutes we have right now - it would really help if they allowed 5 free numbers on a 700 plan so I could drop down to a FamilyTalk 700 and still have enough minutes.

Turns out for T-Mobile it's only $10 more than regular plan. On top of this phone that supports myFaves required

This is a great plan and being able to keep the rollover minutes also is icing on the cake.
Well done att.

I REALLY excited about this feature! I have an account with 5 lines on a family talk plan, one of which is not being used at all. I had a 2nd account in which I had my husband who was on an individual unlimited plan. I was off work for several months and could not afford to keep him on his own account, he was not in a contract so I ported him out to a local prepaid unlimited.
Since there was only a select few people who he called ALOT I could not move him to my current account. Now with the A-list, I will be able to port him back and his number will replace the line that I am paying for but not using! Saving me over $100 overall (from original ATT account), but only $50 from where he currently is.

This really makes me happy, since there are only about four people I actually talk to frequently that do not have AT&T. I actually am trying to figure out what to do with my fifth contact, might just make it a pizza place or something of the sort @_@
You guys can say whatever you want about other carriers having something like this, but they do not have rollover as well. Being able to keep my rollover while still having this is amazing to me. This way I will accumulate a huge rollover balance incase an emergency happens and I start having to make calls like crazy, which definitely does happen.

Yes, I also think it's a shame it's not offered to EVERYONE! What it basically boils down to is that you're kind of 'PAYING' to be included on the A-list since it only it for certain higher minute plans than what I currently have. If you want to PAY for a Family 1400, or more, Talk Plan, then you can get on the A-list. Again, it's just one more feature that I am excluded from. It doesn't surprise me.

Good point and their release is vague. At first, I took it that any plan of 59.99 or more got at least 5 numbers.... But to read closely.... it might exclude the family plans until they hit 89.99. Some clarification would be nice.
That is EXACTLY how I took that!! I'm glad I read more closely. My excitment faded REAL FAST. ![]()

You would think ATT COULD have made this a little different..like maybe 10 free for the higher paying rate plans and 5 free for someone on a slightly lower rate plan. THAT would have been nice. I am NOT happy.

Sweet! I'm very happy with this development.IMO, it's a good added value, coupled with rollover. Some months we squeak through with only adding a few minutes to rollover, (which is fine), this will help. In fact, now, I might add another line for my sister, who is a disabled senior. We cut it too close with the minutes before to do that and I was considering a prepay for her, but, with this, now adding a line would work out. ![]()
BTW, Verizon has the exact same requirements for their F&F.
Now, if ATT would create a family data package for iPhone users, I would be extremely happy.

I think all carriers have the same requirement, as T-Mobile does the same with their "My Faves" calling plans.

They said att is considering making the alist available on the 39 plan in the future with a one faves kind of deal or maybe giving people the choice to have it on the 39 plan with no rollovers.. Im sure it generally depends on competition etc.
One faves for 39 would be awesome i think. We can all hope.
