I agree. I just upgraded a line a litle over a week ago and was promised that AT&T has 4g LTE coverage in my area. Here is what I actually get.

AT&T has the worst wireless service imaginable!! Their customer service is pathetic and overall the company should be avoided completely. I switched to Verizon and I have no regrets even though I did have to pay a penalty... I promise, I will make my opinion and incidents heard loud and clear...CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?!!!

I know of several AT&T employees that use Verizon, the only reason they keep any AT&T service is because they get it free or at a hugely discounted rate!! Verizon is where they are for a reason, they strive and accomplish being the best.

I'm sorry to hear you had such a terrible time that you had to switch to a different carrier. I wish I could have helped prior to that.
I am glad though that you found service that you're happy with.

I had the same experience!!! Interesting to read all the posts pro ATT. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and my experience has been that Verizon is solution oriented. The website is functional and useful. ATT is algorithm driven and if things aren't working, as long as they have checked their boxes they don't seem to really care.

You're right--companies are not in the business of giving away expensive stuff for free in order to retain customers...but you should have specified that such a philosophy applies only "to customers"--apparently (big) companies have no problem "giving away" expensive stuff to "keep executives", simply disguising such giveaways as "compensation". I mean, a company is not in the business of giving away expensive stuff to keep customers, but they can give executives already making high-six or seven-figure salaries monthly car and/or housing allowances on top of that, all in the name of making sure they stick around? Yeah, I can't think of any reason why someone who can clearly afford to buy a car and/or pay for his own living expenses on a seven-figure salary would even be offered and/or would accept such allowances...but I digress.

I'll actually agree with you on this. The question is, who caused the problem in the first place? I've had to reach out to VZW three times in the last 15 months, all because of problems that they had caused.

BBB has been conducting this research for years, and if anyone thinks the BBB reports are biased thats just silly
AT&T obviously is doing something right to be ranked #2 least complaints on the BBB.
And the sole reason the statistics are like that is because when AT&T DOES get a complaint, they either disregard it, give them "free" offers and overcharge their customers shortly thereafter, lock them into a worthless contract and fail to provide the bandwith they advertise, let alone keep the same prices agreed upon over the phone. A complaint completely thrown away is a happy customer. Logic.

I recently signed up for the 4gig shared data plan with three phones. I paid several hundred dollars when I signed up to pay for the phones and was told to expect some setup and activation fees on my first bill. My first bill was $468 dollars! No explanation as to what these charges where for. $127 for one phone, $102 for another, and $237 for another. I tried getting information online, nothing, no overages listed, no calling fees, no list of charges. I called the support number and got a bunch of useless info about pro-rated this and that, I went to the online chat and was also told about pro-rated fees and double billing month in advance charges, but none of it added up to $468 dollars. I was told that next month I'll only be charged the $70+$40+$40+$40 plus tax and other bogus "fees". We'll see. If it doesn't add up next month then forget it, I'm taking the phones back and going back to the cheap pre-paid dumb phone plans. With those I was only paying about $30 a month for each phone. I don't want something for nothing, I just want to know what the heck I'm paying for. If you can't tell me what I'm being charged for then why should I pay you?

This is typical of the kind of thing one hears from and att employee. They refuse to admit the truth. My 85 year old mother went into a "phone store" and was sold something she told the kid behind the counter she didn't want. When we returned it saying that we never wanted it she kept on saying that we were" unhappy with the product" We weren't unhappy with the product we never wanted it in the first place. I havew spent the last three days trying to get my Mother's phone turned back on. It only took them an hour turn it off but now three days later they tell me it will be turned back on in three more days. Over the last three days I have been in circular voice mail hello. hung up on by supervisors transfered innumerable times told that I would be called back promised that someone would klcome to my house to resolve my problem, and my favorite lie. . . even though I told them our uverse and internet were still working they told me that the phone service was out due to storm damage in my area, when it had been sunny and 70b degrees for the last two weeks. To sum up the Att bidness model seems to be admit no wrong, shine the customer on and give them things to keep them quiet. so far they have given me three free months of cell service, and a "one time credit of $25" to my uverse bill and tonight inexplicably a box of free phones. I all want is my mothers phone turned back on. When my contract is up I will be leaving ATT, as soon I can I will find new TV and internet.
