I just went to a store in lake Elsinore California . I asked the person when I was eligible for n upgrade and she said 2/2013. I said well I been a customer for almost 2 years and that is impossible. She said because I was late a few times they extended my contract. That is a total mid evil tactic. I called customer service and after half hour I had to go so they will call me on Monday. I am beyond my self! I have never heard of this anywhere ! Do not do business with AT&T they are not the only ones with the iPhone! I will expect them to take that away if not I will drop them so fast and will go to Verizon not a joke! I don't have automatic payment anything the times that my phone got disconnected It has been a few hours and we get it connected, never days! It has never been about no money. Another point if i drop them I will not care about my credit I swear that on my children! I have 50 websites you can see some of them at (personal information edited out) I get 20 million uniques a month, one million in the USA. I will trash AT&T until my last day on this earth. This is a total racket and is what they do in banana republics!

they did not extend your contract, they moved your discounted upgrade dae, nothing "mid evil" about it, it is documented in the terms you agreed to, other carriers do similiar. If you are unhappy then maybe you should move on, pay the etf and get out of it, just remember the other carriers do it also - and in some cases theother carriers are even more strict.

Yes, good luck with all that. You have to prove to AT&T that you can be reliable on your payments before they take a risk of subsidizing an other phone for you. You contract will expire expire in 2 years but AT&T has no obligation to give you an other discount if you don't pay your bills on time. Why don't you set up an automatic payment to prevent this from happening to you?

Look at your online account, It will tell you when contract expires.
Look under "Profile" - "User Information". It has your contract end date. Confirm the contract end date before going any further.

"they just keep moving your upgrade date if you pay late."
Well this is an old discussion and while my answer might not be what I'd like it to be now, there is one think I must clarify. "They" move the date not for just being late, but for being late 3 or more times in 12 months period, and late to the point of suspension. If you pay the bill couple of days after a due date than it'll have no effect on the upgrade date, but only when someone pays after their service has already been suspended when it may effect their upgrade eligibility.
