ah, but your statements DO reflect perfectly what AT&T's doing...you keep saying "go ahead and leave" or "everyone's doing it" but you & your friends never EVER speak to the ethical issue of the entire at&t community being overcharged and underserved by a group of policy makers who prioritize immediate stock value over long-term stability.
you few who think you're making sense are only serving to make our point about how heartless & arrogant the company's become.

I just got throttled for the 2nd month in a row. I purposely streamed Netflix to see how far I could go. Last month was 2GB, this month, 2.1 GB. I did not get any warnings. It just sent me the final notice, and instantly cut me down. :-(
I seriously wish someone would stop this. Do you think Ralph De La Vega gets throttled at 2GB? I bet not.

I highly doubt it. He most likely has a company paid for phone like most of corporate which they might not be impacted by throttling, however i'm not 100% sure if they are throttled or not so it's definitely a possiblity.

like most people here have already said before they would trottle you at about 8-10gb.. now the past 2 months i have been getting the 5% of users message at 2gb or so?? and now pretty much my internet speeds are useless.
i used the speed test app on my iphone to check my download speeds and when i have a fresh cycle my download speed can be anywhere from 4-5mb and once i get throttled that same speed it reduced to 0.10mb REALLY? i think even sprints speed is better than that. i really think its stupid how they are trying to force out the people who have stuck with ATT since the release of the iphones with unlimited data and making them go into tiered data. whats the point of apps that stream music or movies when with a tiered data plan you going to pay an additional 50-100 a month to watch anything.

Honestly this really makes me upset. I promise you that when Sprint gets LTE in Colorado / California I am switching. This throttle idea makes my Skyrocket worthless. I didn't renew my 2 year contract with AT&T because I heard about this throttle business and I decided to find the Skyrocket on craigslist instead. Pay more for the phone, but not get locked in. I'm so happy I thought ahead.
If AT&T decides and re-thinks how they treat their long time customers and maybe up the "unlimited" data plan to even 5GB, I'll stay. Heck, I could live with 4GB. Its just the principle of treating the grandfathered unlimited customers like this gets to me. I would even be fine with recieving 3mbps as a "throttle" on the LTE network. But when I am traveling and I am on the "4G" *cough* 3G *cough* network it really does affect how i do things and how I can communite with people / view websites.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just got COMPLETELY throttled at 1.8GB (Got the warning around 1.5GB). I had ATLEAST expected it to go to 2GB.
I'm in Southern California and have 3 days left in my billing cycle.
What kind of (add explicit word here) is this AT&T??? So much for "Unlimited". I'm getting less of service than those on a 2GB capped plan. I have 7 Lines of service that add to a total north of $300 a month. I've been paying that amount for years and this is how you treat your old well paying customers???

heres some proof to show you how bad the throttling got. heres a few pixs from the speed test app. notice the dates cause you will see on dec. 22 my speeds were throttled but it wasnt as bad down to about 1.7mb. dont pay any attention to the wifi lol.. anyways, if you notice on jan 6 when my cycle renewed it bumped up to 4+ mbps. now if you see my most recent test you will see that they are all below 0.10mbps when throttled i cant even do anything at that speed. my cycle just renewed today and look at the speed im at now 4+mbps. thats rediculous how slow they have made your speeds when throttleing. i tried to stream netflix and it would keep buffering. i could watch maybe 30 seconds and then it would take 1 min to buffer again. this has got to stop!! TAKE A LOOK AT THIS ATT AND STOP LYING TO YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS!!!! HARD PROOF AND EVIDENCE RIGHT HERE!!

If I'm reading that correctly (I have the same app), the 4+ and 14+ Mbps speed tests were done over wifi and not the cellular network.

the wifi are the ones that look like wifi bars. the one with the Tower symbol is the 3g network and not wifi. just took a screen shot of those and didnt think to crop out the wifi ones lol. this is off an iphone 4s which is suppost to be a bit faster than another other iphone which is kinda true. and how would u file it with the BBB? never done it before.. but having a speed of 0.10 mbps when throttled is just utterly useless.

A tech blogger has a back and forth exchange w AT&T that's is pitifully revealing. They basically blame us the customers, and the government for saying NO to the t-mobile acquisition.
And also, I urge people to do more then just "vent here..." the maybe 2 or 3 posters who think AT&T can do no wrong are obviously trying to keep the lid on this by suggesting we keep it to ourselves or this single thread.
I say let AT&T, BBB, FCC, tech sites and bloggers know that's it's WRONG TO TREAT YOU'RE BEST LONG-TERM CUSTOMERS with such disregard.
2gb is not abuse! Why should we stick around w this company? If Verizon still had the double data deal I'd be gone. I am currently weighing my options about switching since my contract is up. I was about a week away from the GS2 skyrocket and resigning contract until I got chided for using 2.1 gb in less then a week short of billing cycle.

Same here, it is covardly outrageous!
Many years I didn't use my unlimited data plan and AT&T greedily took my money!
Than about a month or two ago I startet to take advantage of unlimited data plan and AT&T has sent me this outrageous email stating that:
"Beginning with your next billing cycle, we'll send you a text message if you are approaching the top 5 percent of heaviest data users. We'll also send you a second text message if you cross into the top 5 percent of heaviest users, at which point you may see reduced speeds for the rest of the month."
[Per Guidelines: Keep it Relevant and Appropriate].
I have checked my data usage and it was only 1.843 GB! I have been paying pay $30.0/month for my unlimited data for years and never even upproached close to this before. By the way their current 3GB plan is also $30.0/month! It means that these scammers thretening users to trottle even if they didn't use 2 GB of data which is less than their 3GB plan!
AT&T you are a scammer!

I was goign to say, I think Verizon is offering it right now, but you beat me to it.
The unlimited data (and me being too cheap to pay the ETF) was the only thing holding me on to ATT... looks like its is time to jump ship.

Just so you know, Verizon also thottles heavy users. The only carrier that does not yet is Sprint but their network is so slow anyways, there is no need for them to throttle.
