Even when it comes time to upgrade they act like so what If you don't like our options go some where else. If you have been a customer for a long long time they ASSUME that you can take it or leave it. If you buy a new contract for ATT from another source you can get a better phone at every little or no cost . The LG quantum is free at overstocked.com with a new contract with ATT but it is 199.00 at ATT. doesn't sound like they wont to be my carrier to me.

ATT does not match prices with 3rd party retailers, or else the retailers would lose their edge.
Cant you just do the upgrade with overstocked.com?

Yes, you can often get huge discounts at third party retailers compared to the carrier's store. As Reach said, if those retailers couldn't provide lower prices, why would anyone use them?
There is a reason to go through the third party, and there are reasons to go through the carrier. When I last upgraded, I went to a third party and paid $20 for something that would have been $200 through AT&T's e-store. Had I had any issues that required an exchange within the first 30 days (or if I just didn't like the phone and wanted to return it), the support and exchange process would have been a nightmare, from all I've heard and read. For six months, if I cancel my service or change my plan to something that doesn't meet the seller's requirements, then I have to pay an extra $250. That's a fee from the seller and separate from AT&T's ETF.
I weighed the options and made an informed choice to go third-party. I may or may not do the same in the future. You have the same options. Compare the prices, read the terms carefully, and decide whether the price difference is worth the trade-offs for you.

Also do not forget that the third party make a large commision on new contracts and renewals, so they take the hit on the cost of the phone to ahve the increased commission, 1 loss washes the the other loss in the end.

Not sure why you even posted. If all you wanted to do is say you want to go to Sprint, then you should have just said it.
I was actually trying to help, but I hope you enjoy Sprint.

I tried to add a line and was told to contact customer care. my family plan 2yr contract ended Dec 2 - today dec 7 they told me i owed a bill from 1998. I contacted Mike to research the problem and was told a 58.00 bill was my final bill and that it had been paid ONTIME! I WENT BACK TO DONNA 800-342-3212 EXT 268176 asked her if Mike had given her the NEWS, she said yes, but those guys in research are BRAIN DEAD - and her supervisor told her not to trust them. The supv said if we wanted to add a line we would have to pay a 800.00 deposit today and would have to wait til June 2011 to add that line for my grandson.
To say AT&T customer care does not care about Cingular wireless customers is a mis-stake - ATT CUSTOMER CARE HAS AN ENTIRE STAFF OF { Please keep it courteous } WORKING - THEY HAVE STARTED TO RUN THE PLACE LIKE THE CRAZY CEOs run the big money companies My FINAL DECISION IS TO NOTIFY THE FCC AND TELL THEM { Inappropriate comment removed } !

I've got a serious reality check for you. If your decisioned with a $800 deposit, it means you have a account that ATT sold to collections in the last 2 years.
So ATT sold your bad debt, within the last 2 years (none of this 1998 talk). And for them to sell the account, it has to be in write off status for over 12 months. You had your chance to pay up, now you have a deposit.
Sounds fair.

Yeah, deposits are only required if 1. you have terrible credit or 2. you had a bad acct with att, so i kudos UNSC REACH, and honestly, it is not AT&Ts fault that someone does not pay an old bill, alot of people try to blame the companies for this happening (any company) but again not the companies fault if you move, or if you dont check your mail, yada yada yada. pay up, or go to another carrier.
