My brother-in-law who is an AT&T customer was recently deployed to Afghanistan for a year. He is a Naval SeaBee. My sister who is authorized to make changes on their family plan account has been repeatedly denied to add a phone line for my 12 year old niece and they wanted to get her an I-Phone for Christmas. The local AT&T store denied her request for the new line and when she tries online she cannot get anywhere because her husband's phone line is on suspension while he is deployed. When she was finally able to get a hold of someone on the phone they told her no problem and she even got an email confirming the order but now she just got a new email cancelling her order and that they have to speak with her husband. Hey <keep it courteous> at AT&T, he is in Afghanistan and god knows what location you even have a copy of his deployment orders. What a horrible company, thank goodness I am with Verizon.....

I understand that you're frustrated but I'm sure we can get this worked out. As a former member of the Air Force myself, I know how stressful the holidays can be when a loved one isn't home.
I would love to have a member of our team give your sister a call to get this resolved. It's likely that a new line cannot be added because of the existing suspension but without being able to review the account I can't be sure.
Would you please (with your sister's permission of course), send me a private message with her name, account number, her phone number and the best time to contact her.
To send a private message, you can either click on the link in this message or click on the little blue envelope in the upper right hand corner, click "compose new message" and type my username in the "Send To" field.
As of May 1st, I am no longer serving as the Community Manager for AT&T. This account will no longer be able to accept private messages. If you have an account related issue, please send a private message to ATTCustomerCare.

So no go on the phone.....
Unbelievable, it is hard to imagine a company not wanting to take your money. My brother-in-law even found a way to call AT&T from Afghanistan but had a bad connection and could not make it happen. <keep it courteous>

My brother -in-law had 5 minutes to make a phone call, he could have spent that time talking to his wife, talking to his kids, but instead he had to spend it talking to AT&T to try and get a phone for his daughter and they didn't even help him get the phone!!!!

I'm not sure of the latest information you have but Cate is working with your sister to get this worked out and they have scheduled a time to talk after Cate does some additional research.

Just a quick note to wrap this thread up...
While I can't discuss specifics because it's account related, we were able to work out a way to get broncobeach's sister a phone for her daughter in time for Christmas and she was very happy. ![]()
