I was a Unicel customer, and a very happy one indeed. AT&T purchased Unicel and I was "ported" over to AT&T. I was assured I would be able to keep my plan with the same features as I had with Unicel. In the biginning that was not a problem. I have a feature called "Canada As Home" and with Unicel that gave me free long distance into Canada. That was why it was called "home" and not "away" but AT&T decided arbitrarily last year to yank that feature away from me. Oh, but they still bill me $10.00 a month to keep the feature. If I have that $10.00 a month removed from my plan that means I have to take a new plan, and sign a two year contract, and if I take a new plan they take my old one away. I have gone from an average of $100.00 a month with Unicel to NEARLY $300.00 A MONTH with AT&T. These theives are ripping off the public and it is time they were taken down. I can not do it alone but I am going to warn everyone I come in contact with that AT&T is the most dishonest corporation on the planet, bar none. If I can convince just 5 people to either leave them or never sign up for their service I will have won in the end. I hope and pray that I can get to the proper complaint department at the Federal Communication Commission and the Vermont Public Utilities Commission to see that they refund my money. They are thieves, every last person there. they lie, they steal and they are nothing but corporate theives. STAY AWAY FROM AT&T!!!!! This is my last month with them, never again will I do business with AT&Thieves!!!!!!

I have to agree. I've been with AT&T for my entire life - almost worked for them in their Basking Ridge office. Something has happened to them and they way they treat customers. I don't know if its the culture or direction coming from the top but you cannot trust what their representatives say. They do not honor their promises. I suggested to my wife that we start recording the calls or switch to another carrier. I'm afraid another carrier could be as bad - or worse - if that's possible.

I'm sorry you've had a poor experience. Is there a current issue we can help with?

I agree MedSurg. I am really dissappointed with at&t. Primariliy problems with internet on phones for me. I hope that at&t realizes that even though they may have a lot of customers, that does not mean they will stick with them in the future. Theres more and more choices in wireless every day.

AT&T was not doing me any favors, they were honoring a contract! This just goes to show what kind of clueless employees AT&Thieves has working for them! I signed a contract with Unicel and when AT&Thieves purchased Unicel I was guaranteed my contract would be honored. [Per Guidelines: Keep it Relevant and Appropriate].!
Read the post! {keep it courteous}This is what we are dealing with people. AT&Thieves should be shut down unless they get their act together.

Yes, let's switch to personal insults, why don't we? Without AT&T Unicell would've been long gone and out of business by now and your cell phone useless, so they did do YOU a favor by taking you out of Unicell's hands and continuing your service.
Modifying one's features doesn't change the terms of contact.

Trust me they did not do me any favors. If Unicel would have gone out of business I would have had an opportunity to select a carrier of my choice and I would have had the opportunity to select a plan that worked for me. What you are not understanding here is the process by which I got where I am right now. AT&Thieves purchased Unicel. I was GUARANTEED I would be able to maintain my plan, I was grandfathered in when ported over. They honored that guarantee for many months, THEN they decided it didn't work for them so they changed it. If I had known in the first month I would not have that plan I would NEVER have stayed with AT&Thieves. They were the ones who made the purchase and promises, I just relied on what I was told. Now my bills have tripled in less than a year. How is that fair and equitable? How can AT&Thieves even begin to justify such behaviour? They can't so they push it from employee to employee trying to keep the customer by making more hollow promises to resolve the issue that they know from jump street they will never honor. No more for me. If this issue is not resolved by the time the next bill is due I will be a Verizon customer. Plus, I will take all my children and grandchildren with me. I will also continue to post messages on message boards telling the world what type of corporate thieves AT&Thieves really are. They may have gotten money from me this way, but I will cost them in the end. All they have to do is honor the contract I signed and they promised.
{keep it courteous}
To everyone else, this is why we are having the trouble we are, their employees do not understand that a contract is a contract. They all have the mentallity that they are doing us a "favor" by servicing our accounts. This is not a favor, it is a service we pay (dearly) for. Until AT&Thieves employees wake up and understand WE ARE DOING THEM A FAVOR they will never be a company worth doing business with. They think because they exist we should bow down to them. Not me, not now and not ever!

1-3 million people and second in the cell phone carrier in the US shows they are doing something right, even though you don;t feel they are becasue they are going against what you feel you deserve.
By posting in a public forum you inivte people to post, while some may agree with you, there are alwayts those that will disagree with you, if you can;t take the posts that disagree with how you feel then take it to a private venue.
You still have the ability and the opportunity to choose select a carrier of your choice, it just won;t be free if you have any time left on your contract - bottom line if you are unhappy and feel that you are "dealing with thieves" then it sounds like you need to take advantage of the ability to leave, pay the etf and go.
Sorry, but calling people thieves and worse does not make points in any conversation, it just indicates that you have lost before you begin. You are not doing any company a favor, you are purchasing their services, if you are unhappy with the services then leave. To cut off one of the replies - no I do not and have not worked for ATT, I run my own company.

If you run your own company and do not look at your clients as doing you a favor by utilizing your services you are as bad as AT&Thieves. I am also a business owner and I treat my client base with the respect and dignity they deserve, and if I tell a client I will do something my word is golden. Unfortunately in this day and age it is not about dignity, respect or anything of the sort, it is all about numbers. The way to achieve those numbers is what has really ruined the business ethics in this country. Businesses today seem to think if they offer the world and then don't deliver they are doing their client a "favor" by servicing their needs, even though they are not the needs that were agreed to. That is not the case. I had an opportunity to bid on a project that would have allowed me to earn a lot of money. Earlier today I sent my client an email respectfully declining that offer not because I am not capable of providing the service, I am. The fact is they have some firm stipulations in their request that I feel I would have a difficult time providing. I would rather tell them I do not want the business than say "Yes, I can do that" and not be 110% sure I can do it exactly how they want it.
I have told representatives at AT&Thieves on a number of ocassions that I was not happy and that I was changing providers. EACH AND EVERY TIME the representative asked me for time to rectify the situation and nobody has ever done that. I did do them a favor by allowing them time to make the proper adjustments and NOBODY has done so. Now it is my God diven unalienable right to complain and I am doing just that. If you don't like the complaint I posted, or you do not like the replies I post then you have the same right to move on and read another post. If you feel the need to post a reply here then I have an obligation to respond. I can tell you right now if I treated my client base the way AT&Thieves deals with theirs I would be out of business. I could not live with myself if I lied half as badly as their representatives do.

We treat our clients as they deserve to be treated based on how their actions and conversations towards myself and especially my employees indicate the deserve to be treated. We must be doing something right, have been in existance for for a few decades and have never once posted a loss in the bottom line, average about a 15 percent growth per year. Unlike att the few organizations we bought out the policies and business methods that where in use when the sale was final were dropped as soon as we took control. as I mentioned, the customers are not doing us a favor, they pay us for the services that we supply them
Go ahead and complain, that is your given right, but it really sounds like the best outcome for you is to etf out and walk away, find a different carrier to see if they will make you happy.
Good luck in your endevor
