My wife has has her phone for 5 years. We paid over 400 dollars in insurance for the past 5 years. Now they want us to pay 50 dollars to have a refurbished phone sent as a replacement since her phone is partially broken. it will not text and freezes up if you try to enter a new name in the phonebook. I will be looking for a new provider and pay closer attention to insurance. This has made both of us furious. Bye Bye ATT in August when my contract is up and i already dropped the USELESS insurance off my bill. After 11 month i should have dropped it. later.......

I'm sorry your wife's phone isn't working. The $50 replacement fee is accurate.
If she's had it for 5 years, she's more than well qualified for an upgrade. You may be able to find a new phone for free or reduced price.
Here's a link to phones available from AT&T. If you sort by lowest price, there are a ton of phone for free/less than $50: http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/cel

And here lies the problem. We already PAID OVER $400 in USELESS INSURANCE over 5 years and now you want MORE money to fix a broken phone. Or upgrade (more money) to extend the contract so YOU CAN MAKE MORE MONEY. No thanks. We are switching carriers when my current contract is up. Why should I have to pay more than the 400 you guys got off of me to replace a broken phone?

I'm very sorry the insurance does not work as you expected it to. It sounds like we weren't clear on how phone insurance works when you initially signed up for it.

As far as I know I have to pay a $500 deductible for my car insurance claims even after paying them a lot of money for past few years. I'm pretty sure I've paid them more money than my car is worth. <edited>
