Ok, so its been going on 3 weeks now that i have had to deal with asurion and all i can say is they suck, customer care, their policies. let me give you the story, I dropped my phone a captivate, screen cracked, nothing would come so I go to a retail store they send me to some other retail store that also deals with warranty saying they will be able to change it out for me since i have the insurance, I said cool My 18 month old son and i take a 45 min ride to this place and they tell me they cant do anything for me cause its physical damage ok so whats the point of the monthly cost of this insurance crap if its extremely restricted they give me a card with numbers and a website for claims, well cant call anyone since this is they only phone i have, besides my wife who is on another network btw, anyway needless to say this is when i start getting mad and the beginning of why i'm leaving at&t, come home claim online, they send me a phone, its refurbished, ok so i check it out, its is scratched to crap on the back the lens to the camera is scratched, call them from this phone and ask if its general practice to send refurbished phones, cause i'm sorry i pay monthly and just paid a 130 more dollars for this crap phone which mine which i got brand new when it first came out and hasnt even been a year yet I expect it to be replaced with a new one, which also i paid less then that for the one that cracked when i upgraded and yet again why have insurance if monthly and 130? Well she says they send refurb if they don't have new ones which was crap i find out later. So I tell the lady the problem she said ok we will send another, I said great thank you, get it next day which i appreciated but whats this another {word filter evasion} refurbished phone, better shape then last i try it out, loaded all stuff on it, to back up i loaded all stuff on other also, this task took about 4 hours each phone doing that without checking but they are CERTIFIED REFURBISHED, CRAP... anyway this phone before i mailed off the other one someone happened to call it was extremely muffled and could barely understand, i called someone else they couldn't hear anything i said without yelling. so I called Asurion again yelling mind you so they can hear me. they tell me i have to go to a retail store and get a care person to call them and verify it was messed up. What? your kidding me yeah i'm freaking lying about it {word filter evasion} so i go the lady called verified and and whatever, get on the phone with the asurion person in from of retail clerk, I was upset I asked so am i getting another refurbished phone she said she doesn't have control of that, ITS THE SUPERVISORS DECISION, that is different then not having them in stock isn't it, I went off cause i'm so tired of dealing with this crap So I told them to send it and if its refurb I'm sending it right back and i'm switching providers. they didn't care too much, so i leave get in my car, and pull out other phone that at least worked and called at&t customer care, I gave them the rundown, and explained the problem, and the best {keep it courteous} could do for me is give me a early upgrade with another 2 year contract for 350 dollars for a new phone thats a captivate, I have been a customer of theirs for 10 years. {word filter evasion} I already paid 130 for these phones i keep receiving and your going to tell me that. Tell you what I"m going to cancel as soon as i find a phone i like which of course the phone i want keeps getting pushed back for release date, but it would be cheaper to cancel my contract and start a new service somewhere else. She tell s me yeah if you feel you need to do that. WTH kinda customer service person says that, anywhere else they want you to stay with them they fight for your business and at least try to make it right and make you happy at least compromise, but no they don't care, I said alright i will call you and let you know when i switch have a wonderful day. As mad as i was I tell myself they are going to make this right i mean i been with them a long time, took my son to mall yesterday got home there was a package i come in get him settled and low and behold another {word filter evasion} refurbished phone. I was livid. so i'm writing them a letter, demanding a refund, and sending that crap back, im writing at&t. thanks for reading. and i have edited this 5 times because just like the rest of the USA they are taking away our freedom of speech.
**Mod Note**Per Forum Guidelines, please keep it courteous and do not go around the word filter. Thank you.

And from experience, refurbished equipment is better than factory assembly line equipment because it has been gone through by phone techs.

They only send reburished phones that is outrageous! My phone is barely two months old.
I am clearly not eligble for an upgrade so what would it cost me to get a new one instead of a reburished. Everyone I know who has gotten a reburished is realy unhappy wit the phone.

Really , it is better. I bought three webcams reburished and had to sent each one back three times. None of them worked.
Also a friend bought a reburished Monitor and has had nothing but trouble with it.

So you'd rather get a refurb instead of a new one? There must be inherent wear & tear that the techs don't touch? I don't think that the diagnostics tests they do repair any wear to the device.
I totally agree with you, I think getting a refurbished to replace a two month old phone is a disgrace!

Well, 2 month old phone is not exactly brand new either. Any refurbished phone is newer than that, they look brand new and operate better than new.

Really. My husband's phone with its broken hinge was in better shape than the refurbished phone we received. Also, when it is a defect what good is a refurbished phone. It has the same problems as the original. I am speaking from experience here, we are waiting for our 4th phone in less than a year.
