Hi there,
can anyone give me advice on this? I am a tourist planning to spend 3 weeks in the USA and need a data plan for navigation, email checking etc. Are there any plans that I can get? what are the necessary conditions that I require before being able to sign up for a plan?(e.g do I need to have a US bank account? Do I need to purchase a prepaid phone before I can obtain the sim card for activation?)

I would recommened visiting an AT&T store when you arrive in the states. You'll be able to purchase a prepaid phone with a data and voice plan very easily.
Price will depend on what you purchase, but the store representative can help you pick out the best (and most cost effective options) for your stay in the states.
You don't need a US bank account to purchase a prepaid phone/plan but you will need to make sure your current charge cards/bank cards are able to be used in the US.
I hope you have a great vacation in the states!
