I bought an Atrix in December 2011. In March I started having problems with it shutting down and restarting itself at least 15 times a day. Didn't matter if I was using the phone, or the phone was sitting idle on the table or while I slept. In April I finally called customer service. They sent me a refurbished Atrix. Was told I could not get a new one, which I didn't understand since the one I had was less than 5 months old. Received new one and within a few hours of receiving it, it started the whole shutting down and restarting itself again. Called customer service again, then sent me a new battery. Guess what? Not only is this new one shutting down and restarting at random at least 15 times per day, I don't get voice mails or text messages unless the thing restarts itself. Back to customer service. I asked for a different brand of phone, was told I can only get an Atrix. This nitwit tells me my OS must be out of date, even though a week ago, after once again going through all the master resets and tests, I was told it was up to date. So I asked him if they were just going to keep sending me Atrix after Atrix until they find one that works, he said yes! Now I have to wait for another phone to come in the mail and hope that one works. So what happens after the original warranty runs out, and I still don't have a phone that works? Will I be responsible for paying for a new phone? That 's a bunch of crap! For the prices they charge, I expect better service. We've been loyal AT&T customers for at least 8 years. Believe me when our contract is up, we will be going to another carrier.

If the replacement phone I get doesn't work either, I will be calling Motorola. My biggest fear is my one year warranty ending, and still not having a working phone, then I'm stuck paying for a new phone.
I also didn't go into detail above, but I wasn't happy at all either with the person I spoke with. He had an attitude, very rude and "snippy" from the moment I said the second phone isn't working and I wanted another one. He's not the only person I've spoken with over the years in customer service and warranty that are very rude and treat you like you are bothering them for calling.

Your last resort would be to get a non-contract smartphone for 125 dollars. You then insert your existing SIM in the non-contract phone . No activation needed for the non-contract phone.
So then you will have a working contract phone to use until it's time for upgrade.

Mine is having problems as well. Restarts about a hundred times a day and never runs an app more than 1 or 2 minutes.... I have been sent 2 replacement phones (both the Motorola Atrix) and they both started doing the same thing as soon as I started using them.

UPDATE***
Thank you to all who read my initial post. After many headaches/phonecalls and visiting the warranty center, I finally received a phone that worked. Then my sim card stopped working, and my phone started doing other weird things. They replaced my sim card and all has been well. Well, almost-only thing that happens now is occasionally after viewing webpages, when I go back to the home screen, the status bar at the top is missing-no bars, time, etc. and I have to restart the phone to get it back. But I am real tired of dealing with customer service so I guess it is something I am going to have to live with.

have seen that happen with other brands of androids, not sure I would be that quick to blane it on the phone. have you tried the motorola support site?

We had 2 motorola bionic phones (when I was with another carrier) which are essentially the same thing as the atrix. They also turned themselves on randomly. In the future you might want to do yourself a favor by buying something else other than motorola.
