I have been an ATT customer since my first phone, which I had to share with my little sister at the age of fourteen. You would think having been a customer this long I would be rewarded with SOMETHING. In October of 2011 I purchased a Samsung Galaxy s2 Skyrocket, and at the time the only covers/protectors available were for the back of the phone, which only came in 3 different colors. I asked about a front protector (hoping for something similar to the Otterbox for Iphone) and as the store here in town was out, they sent it to my home. I opened the package, and it was a flimsy plastic see-through screen sticker. Really? Really? You create/release the phone with the biggest screen on the market and this is what you give me to protect it? Then today my phone fell a whopping 3 inches out of my purse pocket and onto CARPET and the entire top portion of the screen is now spider cracked. I have already replaced this phone (not even 2 weeks after it was purchased) due to the software randomly failing causing the phone to never turn on again. I have long since always been sure to purchase the phone insurance plan on all my phones (kids, accidents, stolen, etc..) and I call Customer Support today to ask what I need to do to file the claim and how much I will need to pay. I remember with all of my previous phones (which were just as expensive) being $50 to $100 to replace. It's going to cost me $200 to replace this phone. Why? I realize I saved money by purchasing the phone with a new 2 year contract, but I have been an ATT user since I was 14 (I am now 21) I already paid $200 for the phone in the first place. What is the point of the insurance plan if it really doesn't do much? Sure it keeps me from spending $700 to $900 outright, but you would think ATT would take better care of their consumers. By the way, there still is not a screen protector (plastic or otherwise) than that flimsy sticky fingerprint protector for this phone.

AT&T doesn't create the insurance policies, its Asurion the insurance provider. Asurion charges $199.00 deductible for all iphone models and theres no explanation. Thats just their policy.

Actually, I called AT&T and they explained they don't choose the prices of the deductible and that Asurion does. So I called Asurion and they in fact, said that the OPPOSITE is true. Their customer service person put me on hold, talked to the AT&T representative, and said that 186.16 would be credited to my account and all I have to pay now is 50 dollars and I will receive a brand new phone tomorrow.

I'm glad to hear you're able to get a replacement phone at a lower price.
Here's a link to a support article about phone insurance. Please give it a read so you can be armed with the facts when it comes to insurance.

There are other protectors out there for this phone including Otterbox.
