I have heard that there was a recall on the Quickfire. can anyone explain what they recalled it for and if i take it into a store can i exchange it?
From what i know it is a charging issue, and no you would have to call their warranty department at 1-800-801-1101.

Yes call that number and they can help you out. We just got my granddaughters refurb. Vu yesterday and there doesn't look
like anyone's even touched it so looks brand new and she's thrilled. We had to do some talking to get the Vu because they
offered the refurbished Propel or refurb. Matrix, neither one which she liked. We're very happy we got the Vu and I really don't
know why they even called it a refurb. She's very happy with her Vu (as I am mine) and as far as I'm concerned, our case is
closed. I didn't want something for nothing.......just wanted AT&T to make it right and in our case they did
.......

I was told by customer service reps at AT&T that it's because the phone has a tendency to get hot in the screen area, and even caught fire a couple of times.
I find it hard to believe that ATT would admit that the Quickfire has caught fire a couple of time. I am not saying they did not tell you that polochikgirl, just surprised they did because if these are catching fire they should be agressively recalled. Admitting to customers that there is a potential hazard to self and property without such a recall is certainly not a smart thing to do. Let's just hope that this ATT rep was just mistaken, for all of our safety and for lawsuits that would be brought onto ATT for this kind of info if indeed it is true and they did not make this a recall!

I heard it was one guy who tried to put his charger in backwards while he was driving and it caught on fire......that's a far cry
to saying everyones might catch on fire! All of the people I've talked to have just said they were taking them back but by no
means were any of them saying they were catching fire. They all kind of gave me a different story, like in our case, the screens going
out, etc. We got a Vu and are completely happy that they treated us fairly.......even though it took a while and a lot of
perserverence on our part........

the phone isnt catc hing on fire because of the screen getting hot. its because someone bought a 3rd party NON at&t charger for his car. (which your not supposed to do) and then he plugged it in BACKWARDS ( mind you there is a arrow on the top showing you which way to plug it in) and it caught on fire... HUMAN ERROR really but i think att is just being cautious.

I bought my Quickfire right before Christmas. I was at an AT&T store today, for another reason, and found out that the Quickfire has been recalled. When I asked what I was supposed to do, they were not yet aware of the plans and that the announcment just came out this week. I love the phone and don't want to change, but i have been experience the lag time on my applications and a few other quirky things.
Why can't I find an official recall notice?
Can I have a credit to my account for the phone and upgrade to an iphone or am I required to select on the two phones that I've seen mentioned here.

Actually,
the quickfire did get recalled for fire hazard.
i own one and got called today about it.
the charger does make it get hot because it has happened to me before,
and a few fires have started. the at&t guy straight up said we are recalling
them because of fire hazard. mine has gotten too hot to touch before.
they told me you have to take it to at&t and exchange it for a new one.
(i'm assuming one at equal price?)
i'm sure you CAN keep it, but they won't be held liable if your house catches on fire.
i was sick if the phone anyways. 8]

Strange.... I got an OFFICIAL letter via us mail from ATT a few days ago and it mentioned NOTHING about a recall. All it said was what was what was posted on the web and linked to by ATT weeks ago at the top of this forum and via text message directly to my phone. How to properly charge the phone. If this was a recall then why have we not heard from ATT about it rather than what we have about charging the phone?

Sadly, yes, the Quickfire was recalled.
Just because they are replacing defective phones with something else does not mean recall. So far all ATT is stating is discontinued.

No, I was confirmed by 3 different people at the store and through phone that it was recalled. Their reaons were because people were having a lot of trouble with the touch screen and what not, but it was probably also phone's catching on fire.
What do you mean by through the phone? The moderator on this ATT site stated just a few posts above it was not recalled. I got an official txt message in the last month from ATT and it did not state recall, just how to charge phone. I got a US mail letter a week ago from ATT that did not state recall, just how to charge phone.
It sounds to me like that one store is mistaken.

Well... I am not sure if it is a fire hazard or not. Someone stated here that one did catch fire, but the person used a 3rd party charger and they stuck it in the wrong way. IF this is true I have no idea. I don't "think" that ATT would allow themselves to be setup for a lawsuit if these caught fire easily, especially since they have sent messages stating the proper way to charge the phone. If there was a chance of these things catching fire if used correctly I don't think they would set themselves up for something if these phones might kill people and/or do property damage. That certainly would not be cheaper than recalling the phones.
Since they did not recall these phones while deciding not to sell them anymore, probably due to thousands of returns, I think it is quite amazing that they are not selling accessories for the phone anymore since there are a lot of ATT customers with this phone. This in my mind is the worst of all their dealings here, and believe me there are a lot of issues with the way they handled this phone.
We have two of the quickfires in our house. My son just informed me last week that his phone is now hard to use when it is first turned on as far as the touch screen goes. After a while it is fine. For sure I am going to keep a close watch on it.

Read some of the posts on this topic. AT&T WILL replace your Quickfire and NOT with another QF. They have been
replacing quickly with the Propel, Vu or another one. They should not question your need for another phone because
they have had to replace tons of them. If you cannot get any satisfaction with your call, go to one of the centers and
they will take care of you. AT&T is a great company.....they just got caught up in buying a lousy product from a no- so
reliable company. They will stand behind this recall (or whatever they are calling it).

I've had my Quickfire since January and I've had problems with the touch screen, texting, and dropped calls.
I've called the customer service line 3 times and I have been to a corporate store once and I have been told different stories.
I went to a corporate stores and was told the phone WAS being recalled.
The First time I called I was told I could pick out another phone, but the guy lied to me.
The Second time I called the lady said that she would transfer me to the department who was dealing with all of the quickfire issues and transferred me to a extension that "no longer existed"
The Third time I called I was told that I could only receive another quickfire and that the phone was not being recalled.
A couple people have posted and said they have received new phones
We paid more money for a phone that should of been higher quality and since we weren't we should be reimbursed.
This company needs to get their story together and treat all customers equally.
