Just an update for anyone who is srill having problems:
The story is that AT&T was never recalling the phones so much as they were allowing upset useres who had heard of the phones exploding to specially exchange their phones. They were allowing this during the month of April before they sent out the charger, but when the new chargers were sent during the month of May (i can't recall the date listed on the letter but it was arround the 11th) they stopped doing the exchanges. I was fortunate enough to get my phone exchanged after i posted, but it took me about 9 phone calls to do so.
I'm upset about the way this situation was handled, but at least in my case I feel as though the issue was resolved and I finally got the whole story.

not to mention they have the new samsung phone that has an 8 MP camara!
I have no experience or knowledge of their 8mp camera, but be aware that photo quality also depends on a lot of other factors, such as lens, sensor, etc.

well, the quickfire WAS NOT recalled, however, they were having a problem with them overheating, so they sent out new chargers. i talked to them this morning, the number is 18008011101, if you're phone is still overheating with the new charger they'll first give you this: we'll send you a new quickfire(and if that's what you want say that)
if you don't agree to that they'll offer you three phones:the vu, and two others. since those didn't have all the qualities of the quickfire, i asked and i'm getting the xenon, well anyway, good luck!

I tried asking them that first, but they wouldn't let me do that.
You could try, but you are going to have to put up a fight and they still might not let you do it.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@###################### IMPORTANT MESSAGE MUST READ!!!!!!
I recommend to all of you with problems with your Quickfire/POS contact your local Senator. Inform them as to what AT&T is trying to get away with. Ask them to look into AT&T & recall these faulty phones. I know I am!!! I'm not going to let them get away with trying to rip us off ("the little people"!!) Here is a link to contact your local Senator. WE NEED TO GET A RECALL FOR THESE PHONES!!!
http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/
If we all get on board we can get something done as a large group instead of individually Power to the PEOPLE!!!!!!!
Good luck pass the word!!! Copy this message to other forums, we need to get the ball rolling
What to do about Quickfire? ?

Well our Quickfire touchscreen finally took a crap. You would press on Messaging and it would load the IM app, etc... We also get an error "SmartChip Not Allowed" randomly and you press OK and the phone continues to work fine. So warranty would ONLY send us a refurb quickfire. I asked what do I do when it does the same thing, was told to call back.
Got the "new" phone yesterday and it said smartchip not allowed 3-4 times that day. Touchscreen already has the begining signs of failure like the other one (have to hit the same spot 3 times before it works sometimes).
Called warranty back and spent 30 minutes with a lady who I could barly understand due to her poor english. She was totally useless, the only thing she wanted to offer me was for me to pay to upgrade my piece of junk phone. WHICH IS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY!
So I went into the ATT store. He called warranty for me. They are sending ANOTHER new phone. He also replaced the SIM card in case that was the problem. I told him I will be back when the new phone does the same things.
How can they go from giving away different phones to people and then all of a sudden they pretend like they don't know anything about it and send people refurb broken phones?
I asked if we could just get a different model phone plenty of times, they won't give in.

I would return it for something else if you can. We went through 3 of them and finally a wonderful rep at an ATT store swapped it out for a Xenon when the warranty dept was trying to blow smoke up my {Please don't go around the word filter}. The touchscreen on the Quickfire is total garbage. The first one lasted a while (6 months) but the referbs we got were acting up right away. You would touch one thing on the screen and it would think you touched the total opposite side. Also sometimes it would not even recognize you touched the screen at all. The LG Xenon is a way better phone and has the same retail price as the Quickfire. Now I have seen they are practiclly giving the Quickfire away, probably to blow through their left over inventory of junk phones.
Also, BTW I have had an LG shine for almost 2 years, works awesome. My wife had one also but somehow her screen cracked, which is how she ended up with the Quickfire (which I paid $300 for) and now the Xenon.

At this time, there is no recall for the AT&T Quickfire and there is nothing wrong with the device itself. Presently, the only issue is when the charger is incorrectly inserted into the device, as explained here.
I think everyone should listen to the mod. The charger was recalled.
