I am due an upgrade in about a month and I am looking to get a new phone. What would you recommend for the best Non-Smartphone? I was looking at the HTC Freestyle, but it appears that it is to buggy right now with texting and various other things. I will be adding on the data plan when I upgrade as well so I would like something that does a decent job with e-mail, general web-surfing, social networks etc...
I would get a smartphone, but I would rather not be locked down to the 25 a month for 2 years since I know I would easily go over the 200 megs per month on the $15 a month plan. So going with a nice non-smartphone is my only option for the time being atleast until my next upgrade.

True enough and I will probally just use the browser as most people do, but that still does not tell me what is the best non-smartphone that AT&T has to offer. Just from looking it may be the LG VU+ but wanted to get others opinions before I upgraded.

My daughter is very happy with her Samsung Flilght 2, she uses her browser and it's pretty good for a dumb phone. I have a Pantech pursuit which is awesome for texting, not as great on the internet, but a close second .

I had an LG Vu Plus, until I recently cracked the touch screen. I liked the phone. I had planned on not using my next upgrade right away and keeping my Vu Plus. The full keyboard was nice, sound quality was good. The camera took really good pics compared to other phones I have had. It is a good "non-smart" phone.

I actually cannot stand my Samsung Flight 2. It is extremely hard to use the internet that I pay monthly for, and although the battery life is good, the screen size is terrible. I just got off the telephone with 611, and they said that there are only 5-6 non-smart phones. This is very disappointing as I am a customer of Cingular/AT&T since 1995. I have 5 lines on my account, and I know that all of our phone upgrades are at the same time. Also, none of these 5 or 6 non-smartphones they have are good for texting. I am in a position that I am stuck in. What should I do?

It is a shame that the two biggest carriers dont have any GOOD non-smart phones. They are missing the boat becasue there is a huge market out there for someone who wants a good phone without the added expense of data. They think they will get a share of people to upgrade and collect the added $20/M to go that route but they would be making a lot more $ if they came out with some GOOD non-smart phones that worked well, had GOOD cameras, etc. They would make more $ from people upgrading to unlimited texting. The HTC Freestyle was this phone but we had one and it freezed up every day for a week so we returned it. What a shame! Dont know of any at this point...

My picks are Pantech Link II and LG Xpression. You would have to compare the two to find out which one you like.
Is the Pantech Link II having any of those messaging/texting issues like a few of the other Pantech phones??

I totally agree that there should be a larger selection of non smartphones. I also don't like when you first walk into a corp ATT store and how the reps try to immediately try selling you an iPhone.....
Ther are a LOT of people who don't need/want a smartphone.

I have been using the Motorola Tundra for a few years now. I use the browser and I loaded Opera on it for better browsing. Texts are limited to work stuff so I pay per text but it is not that much. It is a rugged phone that has lasted all these years in all weather and conditions. The sound is excellent both speakerphone and handset. It has a external antenna soI get great reception. After about 4 years of use, the flip hinge is a little weak but that is all that is wrong with it. When I need the 3G browser I use it.. Ok a small screen but I use google maps, and even can check my e-mail if I have to. I do have an iPod that uses wifi so that gets used when I am able to but the phone itself is great.
It still costs around $250 an hasnt gone down in price so it must be a good phone

I have ben using the Samsung Evergreen and Samsung Solstice 2, until recently, when they stopped working for no reaspm. The Samsung Evergreen is great for text messaging, while the Samsung Solstice 2 has been great for calls. I am like you where I do not want a smart phone and I am lookin at getting the Samsung Rugby III.

I want to add something to my first reply. I just got the Samsung Rugby III yesterday and I really enjoy it. I am very happy with it. The audio quality on it is great, the phone feels really solid in my hand. I also really like how Samsung designed the back cover for this phone. You have to get a coin and unscrew the back to remove the battery cover and gain access to the battery, SIM card, and microSD card slots.

Hello! I am due for an upgrade and I am looking for the best non smart phone. do you think they will come out with anything new? I know they have the new pantech that seems like a smart phone, but I have only seen kids say they like it. Not very happy all the smartphones are free and dumb phones are expensive! Anyway...any thoughts?
