Dell Streak

Well, its the 14th and no Streak. I am thinking there's a good reason behind this and that reason is Android 1.6. I just don't think that any tablet/phone can be released with anything less than 2.1 right now and sell well. I am figuring that Dell is getting FROYO working on the Streak for a US release. I would also hope that Dell is working on getting a 1.5 GHz processor to set a new standard for mobile devices (many reviews complain that the Streak is too slow compared to other devices using a 1GHz processor. Could be a OS issue...). As long as they're doing that, throw a 'wifi n' card in it as well.

The problem for me is that I really need to upgrade my phone. I had hoped that the Streak would be a perfect combo device for me as I need something to takes notes on at school and I need a new phone. But unless I see something by mid August I am afraid I am going to be another iPhone 4/iPad lemming.

Even if it were to release with 1.6 the update would be simple.I don't think that's the reason.I think they are going to release It's baby brother and the new Samsung first.I was told the samsung is deffinately due next week,so I am figuring the streak to 3-4 weeks away.ALL conjecture though I too am ready for an upgrade but I will not take just whats available(like last time).I will wait

The guys over at boy Genius Report say that they heard from an AT&T source that the Streak comes July 19th.... Since AT&T releases on Sundays other then the iPhlop I am thinking this is either July 18th release or announced on the 19th for a release on September 19th for back to school.

I also saw somewhere for a back to school sale AT&T will be having that they will have 16 different androids available.... Seeing the track that they are in to release I do not see this happening unless a phone will come in Multiple colors and they are counting each one as a different device.

I doubt it's going to be release on July 19th.  I already contacted AT&T store near me and also contact AT&T customer service, they both have no idea when Streak will be out.  I also contacted Dell online chat again (4th time in a Month), and the Rep told me that he has no idea when it will be release but most likely by end of the month. He also indicated that the lack of pubic announcement from Dell is actually drawing more and more interest and curiousty from potential buyers.  The Rep also said that the reason for the delay is because Dell is trying to upgrade Streak to Android 2.2.

I think Dell will probably make a formal announcement about the release date on July 19th.  It will most likely be available to purchase from AT&T by end of July or beginning of August.

Captivate hasn't a flash for it's phone and Samsung might be the worst customer support and tech support  company on the planet!!! I fought with them over a lemon of blu-ray surround sound system for 6 months.I had to bring in the ftc and the bbb to get a refund !!! DON NOT BUY SAMSUNG

So last night I went to an AT&T store in the Portland area just to see if I could get some answers and I was lucky enough to find the sales rep that use to always help me with my upgrades every year and got talking about all the phone leaks going around and here is was I got... I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings but I trust this person.

The Dell Aero.... Gone scratched (I think we all know why)

Sony X10.... later this year rep says has heard end of August also heard Holiday season.

Another HTC.... Name, Specs unknown.... Late this year.

Another HTC.... Again nothing other made by HTC.... Possible by end August.

Captivate.... AT&T thinks of this as their EVO/Inc phone for 2010.

As for the Dell Streak... Nothing... No word on if they will carry it or support it like with the other Ithing that leaked email address.

One thing I did notice was a new display octagon shape all nice and white with a black sign with white print that said accessories coming soon.... Nothing was on this display looked like it could hold three maybe four devices on it. I would think if it was for the upcoming Captivate it would of had the Galaxy s or Samsung on it somewhere and it didn't so something else in addition to the Cap. Looks like it could be coming sooner then later.

I know someone who works for ATT testing this phones, and he told me that it is coming out around back to school time. Also Xperia x10 is also coming around that time too.

And when exactly that time?  It better be released before the middle of August, if not, I might give in to the Captivate...

July 25th makes more sense for an AT&T launch... though a pre-order for a launch on the 25th being that it is already the 20th... I don't know. I did notice on the tech page that it DOESN'T say Android 1.6... take it for whatever that means.

Just contacted Dell Online Chat, the rep still have no clue on the exact release date.  what a joke they are!!  I think the July 27 date is for pre-order online only.  I don't think AT&T will be releasing the Streak at that date.  I won't be surprised if it's early August or mid August through AT&T.  Personally, I'm getting sick of the way Dell is handling the Streak release date thing.  I am thinking about getting the Samsung Captivate instead and wait for Streak 2 in the future.

The page says late July is the time it will be available for purchase. So I would wait!

Interesting. Dell.com has dropped the price of the Captivate from $199.00 to $149.00 to just $99.00 over the last few days. Clearing inventory?

Looks like dell is announcing its release of the streak http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/mobile-streak And the specs shown on the site show only att 3g bands(and the 2100mhz band for use overseas).

WTH - I just signed up on the Dell site for a pre-order notice. I just bought an iphone 4, but my daughter could use a new phone!

Well, if you didn't sign up for the pre-order it looks like your out of luck. Either that or the site is down.

I have a strong feeling that it's coming out this Sunday. Why?

AT&T mostly releases phones on Sundays, and this Sunday is the last one of the month. 

So if Dell's website is true about it being available in "late July," then it HAS to come out this Sunday!

If not, it will be because of a special release like the iPhone 4. So it's close! Finally the wait is almost over!

Dell screwed around too much. Got the iPhone 4. Since I found out you can pair a bluetooth keyboard to it, it does everything I need, now.
