I currently have a non-smartphone from AT&T. A friend of mine is giving me her old iPhone 3GS. Can I just move my SIM card to the new phone? If so, can I then just go to the AT&T website and purchase a smartphone data plan or will AT&T automatically select one for me?
Thanks,
Natalie

Yes, you can just swap SIM cards. AT&T should automatically add the data plan. They will add the $20 - 300mb plan. If that is not what you want, you will have to call or go online and choose the plan that you want , either the $30 - 2gb or $50 - 5gb plan.
